Be careful how you treat other. You never know what demons someone may be facing in their own minds #bementallyaware #anxiety #mentalhealth (at Dublin, Ireland)
Like the physical, reproductive, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular.....health, everyone has a mental health. Your mental health entails how your brain works, your thought patterns, your behaviour, the quality of your decisions how you respond under pressure and in an elated mood...and many more. However, not many of us pay attention to our mental health. ° Do you know that your lifestyle can affect your mental health positively or negatively? Do you know that hard drugs and alcohol can affect you mental health negatively? What about your choice of food, the environment you expose yourself to, and your mind-set? These can influence the quality of a person’s mental health in a negative or positive way. ° If you have never taken the time to consider these, please do. Recognise that each one of us have a mental health and if you think your mentall health needs attention, don't hesitate to speak with a professional psychologists, psycharitist or clinician. ° None of us should be ashamed or afraid to seek professional help for our mental health. ° I like the way Andy Behrman says it in a tweet @electroboyusa, "Maybe if everybody suffering with #mentalhealth issues used a wheelchair for one day, the world would SEE how common it was." Please Note: ( 1 ) Andy Behrman is a mental health advocate, speaker, author of 'Electro boy' and a Bipolar Warrior who is passionate about fighting mental health stigma. He shares his views on www.electroboy.com (2) I am NOT a psychologist, psycharitist or a clinician. I am passionate about creating mental health awareness and ending the stigma around mental health. I share my journey with bipolar disorder at www.idaretoblossom.org If you need help for your mental health, please speak with a professional. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthawarenessweek #bementallyaware #mhaw2017 #mentalhealth #bipolardisorder #DepressionAndSuicidePrevention #mentalhealthawarenessinNigeria #mentalhealthblogger #combatdepression #mentalhealthadvocate #motivation #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthquote #idaretoblossom #youarenotalone #speakupandReachoutforhelp #Idareyoutoblossom #IDB
What is mental illness anyways?
So you're curious to find out what mental illness is? Great question! Some people think it's sadness or over anxious. Some think it’s multiple personalities. Some think it’s a choice of behaviour. The truth is, it is all of that and much more. To try to understand what it is, you must first classify it in your mind as an illness; a disease. Like diabetes, heart disease, asthma and so on. In comparison to self infliction diseases, many people and mainstream media think mental illness is self inflicted or even desired or simply a choice one made. That can be true but is more often not. Think of a person with Type 1 diabetes and type 2. Type 1 is organic. Something you were most likely born with. Type 2 is self inflicted. Many years of poor diet, obesity, lack of exercise even eating too much sugar! Although medically, diabetes can be self inflicted, you can’t just tell someone “give your head a shake and get over it”. Either uncontrolled types of diabetes can result in serious health issues and even death. There is no grand typing of mental illness but left untreated, uncontrolled, can lead to serious health issues and even death. This blog or mumblr I like to call is about being aware about mental illness and more importantly be aware of what you, yes you, can do to help.
