Who or what is the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdui?
It is almost 100 years since Prof John Norman Collie told of encountering a terrifying presence on a Scottish mountain that would become known as the Big Grey Man.
But what happened on Ben Macdui, and could an atmospheric phenomenon occasionally seen in the hills - including in the past few months - offer an explanation?

Big Grey Man of Ben Macdui: Scottish Bigfoot
For over a century, experienced climbers have fled in terror from Scotland's second-highest peak, pursued by something they cannot explain. Known in Gaelic as Am Fear Liath Mòr, the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdui stands between ten and twenty feet tall, appearing through mist and snow to stalk mountaineers across the Cairngorm plateau. Unlike typical ghost stories, these encounters come from credible witnesses—scientists, naturalists, and seasoned outdoor experts—who describe hearing massive footsteps following their own, feeling waves of inexplicable dread, and sensing a malevolent intelligence watching from the fog.
