Ben Steiner coddles us with a velutinous voice on his debut single Stay, convincing us we want to stay forever in the comforting, blissful embrace of his effortlessly soulful, woolly nuzzling pop. The young solo artist, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, melts our hearts with his gooey molten song. Its a rich potent, velvety swooning sound that some have compared to fellow troubadours like James bay, Tom Odell, and Frank Ocean. Stay is the lead single from Ben Steiner’s debut EP, to be released in early 2019. He states: “"Stay" is a message of love and normal life. To embrace and enjoy life in the present. I wrote it after a trip I had up in Sydney in the summer where everything seemed to come together at the right time.” Keep up with Ben on Facebook, here.

Existential Horror? Sure, why not. Humanity’s fear and difficulty grappling with death, is a never-ending story that has been explored and told in countless ways. Here, a woman deals with the loss of a parent, which is something everyone unfortunately goes through. Her struggle in letting go manifests in a creepy way, where dark past actions, come back for revenge.
August 3: Matriarch (2022)
I made another post about this while I was watching it, but overall . . . a little disappointing. The plot is very similar to Apostle (2018) in terms of its pagan elements, but without the sympathetic characters. It's also lacks a period setting, which is another black mark against it.
One positive, though, that I've noticed in more recent horror films like this one and this year's Companion is queer characters whose queerness is not a main plot point. Hopefully, that's more true now across genres and I've just noticed it more in the genre I watch the most. It's just a way people are sometimes regardless of what else they've got going. It's only taken filmmakers 100 years to figure this out.

C's Recap - No Runs for Canadians as Spokane Wins Nooner Not at the Nat. #VanCanadians #MontysMounties #WeAreBlueJays
The Nooner ‘Not at the Nat’ at Avista Stadium was not a good one for the Vancouver Canadians as they were blanked 8-0 by the Spokane Indians Thursday. Spokane took its first lead of the series in the second inning when Niko Decolati bunted his way aboard and made it all the way to third when Luis Quinones‘ throw to first missed the mark. Quinones then balked Decolati home for the game’s first…

THE STOMACH
Here's a great one from a few years back. Filmmaker Ben Steiner is an extremely talented, up-and-coming name in genre that you should be following. Having done festival favorite shorts like THE STOMACH and THE FLEA, Ben expertly knows how to weave together the supernatural, crime, and the grotesque, into all of his films. Let’s hope he starts getting cracks at feature projects, as I know he’ll bring a slice of new horror to a field that is lacking.
