Ben shoved the last bag inside the trunk of the car he had rented before closing it shut. His eyes flick from the car to the blonde sitting on the passenger seat, checking to make sure she was okay. Recently, he’d come to terms that he may have started to develop feelings for the girl. He didn’t know when it began, he just kind of knew when he was there. Now, most people would be excited to go on a trip outside of town with the one they like. But things were more than just complicated between him and Chloe. Besides, they were in Texas for a reason.
Gathering up his nerve, the male finally got into the driver’s seat. “We’re all set,” he nodded. “Got everything you need?” he turned to Chloe, assessing her face. “How are we feeling?” he asked, concern plain in his features if not in his tone of voice. He could only imagine how much emotions she was going through at the moment. She was, after all, going to see her estranged family for the first time in years. And they were going to drop in uninvited, so they couldn’t really gauge what direction today was going to go. All Ben knew was that come hell or high water, he was going to be there for her when she needed.
