Heād been waiting what seemed like forever to meet his soulmate. Darcy had always thought that heād be devastated about death when it happened to him, but he could barely remember it. The fact that heād wound up dying young had come as a surprise, but far more than that was the mere existence of any kind of afterlife ā he hadnāt believed in anything of the sort for the entire time heād been on Earth ā and while he thought that heād always been a morally decent person, it had still come as a shock for him to find out that heād been deemed good enough to be amongst the best of the best. Surely there had to have been some kind of mistake. Darcy had resolutely kept his mouth shut, however, and instead tried to quietly blend in with the neighbourhood with all its perfectly trimmed lawns and eternally smiling residents. The knock at the door followed by the voice of a familiar architect made him flinch, but he was quick to rearrange his expression into a smile before he answered, eager to meet the person that the universe had deemed his perfect match and hoping against hope that there hadnāt been any more errors in the system.
The notion of soulmates actually existing baffled her. But then again, the thought of an actual heaven existing was a concept that she was still wrestling with. Although the architect claimed it wasnāt heaven exactly.Ā The point system which granted her access to the good version of the afterlife baffled her. She was pretty sure it was broken because she was the very reason of her motherās demise when Cady was young. But maybe sheād done enough good in the world-- maybe sheād made enough people happy with her talents. Still-- that felt so insignificant. Death wasnāt a surprise, though. With her line of work, it wasnāt an impossibility.
The carnie-- or former carnie-- fell into step with the architect as he continued to answer all of her questions. The architect seemed so capable and knowledgeable, and yet no matter how intelligent or profound his answers were Cady didnāt feel satiated. Before she knew it, they had finally stopped at a door. The human walked in after the architect, and her eyes immediately land on the man who stood in front of them. In movies, when you see your soulmate, you were supposed to already have that gut feeling-- like you know. But Cady just felt doubt. āHi,ā Cady walked up to him, unsure if she was supposed to shake his hand or hug him.Ā āIām Cady,ā she introduced herself with a feeble smile, finally opting for the handshake.Ā āI suppose Iām your soulmate?ā It came out as a question-- because it definitely was.

Ezekiel watched their young intern, turn around with wide eyes as a woman approached him.Ā āOh.. Iām sorry Maāam, but we actuallyāā -Ā āOhlson, I got this, youāre good.ā Ezekiel said, jogging over from their little open gym, to stop the young man from embarrassing himself or the beautiful woman.Ā
āHey! You were⦠let see⦠ehā¦. Ariaās mother, right? How is she doing.ā He said, with a gentle smile, remembering her concerned face as she had rushed to be with her wounded daughter. Not a lot of faces stuck with him, as god knew he would see hundreds of them every day, but her eyes, so full of love and warmth had been hard to let go of just yet.Ā āIāll take the cookies. We normally donāt accept baked goods from visitors.. just to be safe from poisoning attempts and those sort of things⦠but.. Iāll try one when I get home. I highly doubt youād put something in there.ā He said, placing a hand underneath the basket so she could let it go.Ā
The look on the young manās face wasnāt lost to her. But Zai managed to keep the amusement from her expression. But then the man she was looking for stepped in. Zai visibly perked at the sight of him, noticing a warm feeling on her chest which she recognized to be gratefulness. āAnya,ā she corrected the fire fighter with a small smile,Ā āHer name is Anya. And sheās better now, thanks to you,ā a soft smile graced her lips as she looked up at the man. Without the soot covering his face, she could see how handsome he was. It almost made her blush-- but Zainab Soni doesnāt blush.Ā āSheās-- she just got released from the hospital last week and we still have some physical therapy sessions. When sheās ready, and if youāre okay with it, she said sheād love to come see you and thank you personally. If itās not too much of a bother. Iām sure you get a lot of visitors after the fact--ā
She handed him the basket of cookies.Ā āI made those myself so I assure you, theyāre going to be just fine.ā She nodded, smiling kindly at the man.Ā āIām sorry-- Iāve forgotten my manners. I shouldāve introduced myself sooner. My name is Zainab Soni.ā
Plot: Our characters have been best friends for ages, and Parker has been harboring secret feelings for them. When they become pregnant, and the father refuses to step up, Parker is there to support them. But will it be as a friend, or is this his opportunity to show how he really feels?Ā Open to F/NB/Anyone with a uterusĀ
Pregnant. The word hit him like a ton of bricks. It wasnāt his, but the way his palms started sweating, you would have been forgiven for thinking it was. Because it was, wasnāt it? In a way? It was hers. And her problems were his problems; that was the way it worked.
āItās gonna be okay,ā he said, his words a lot more sure than he was.Ā āWeāll figure this out. Whatever it takesā¦āĀ
Tears were welling up in her eyes as she swallowed audibly. For the lack of a better term, she was fucked. Blesse felt like her life was just starting when she finally allowed herself to fall in love. She finally allowed herself to do what she wanted to do without considering anyone elseās opinion about it. Her parents warned her about the man she was seeing. He was only after her money, they said. He was a good for nothing just because he didnāt earn as much as they wanted-- he wasnāt up to standard in their eyes. But he had shown her the world-- everything outside of the little bubble she lived in. He had treated her the same as he would if she didnāt have the name or the money. And that was why her walls crumbled for him. And apparently he got too close. She definitely shouldāve just kept her walls up.
Now she was with his child, and when sheād told him-- he freaked out. He knew there was high chance Blesseās conservative parents wouldnāt choose to support their new family. And he knew he couldnāt maintain Blesse and the child. She didnāt know what to do. And so she did what she usually did when the world fell apart like this. She went to her best friend-- the one person who knew her through and through.
Tears streamed down her face. She wanted to believe Parker so bad. She wanted to believe things were going to be okay. She buried her face into the nook of his shoulder, taking comfort in his presence.Ā āWhat do I do?ā she strained.Ā

Sara smiled at that statement, heās not wrong. Sheās a busy woman, she does quite a lot as the mayors assistant. People arenāt wrong to assume that she does most of the work, though she didnāt really mind it. The mayor is a good man and he does his best to lead the city. He just tends to call out to her for help a lot more than any adult with power like his should. When the other agreed to her suggestion, she noddedĀ āThat would be nice.ā she said, as she then hooked her arm to his and lead the way to the door. They made their way down the flight of steps, then the elevator.
Heās gentle in the way he walked as she basically glided beside him. Sara was a graceful creature-- quite the opposite of David really. She was a hard-worker, and he was more often than not procrastinating his next big project. She was an important figure to the city, and he was just a lowly craftsman who struggled to finish what he could. He didnāt know why she would choose to spend time with him really. But he was glad sheād found a friend in him, truly grateful that she found worth in him even when he failed to do so for himself.Ā He was callous, and she was graceful. And that was why David loved to keep her around-- he had so much to learn from her. āSo I have a question,ā he went on, moving the conversation forward,Ā āwhatās one thing that a lot of people miss out on because they donāt know about it?āĀ

As Ben moved over in her both, Chloeās heart started racing, as her blood turned cold. Sure, they had been that close back at the abandoned house, but back then she had been in control. Not to mention that she had been in a much calmer emotional state. As his hand touched hers, she pulled away, sliding her body further into the booth. Her body was filled with contradicting desires. A desire to hold on to his hands and drown in his kind eyes. Letting him heal and put together all her broken peaces. She wanted to give in and believe his words.
Then there was the second part of her, that knew this wasnāt real. That they were both just playing the part of a kind stranger. How many marriages hadnāt she played a part in breaking as she slept with all types of men, many which included wealthy and structured families, like Benās. People like those in Benās community. People like⦠Ben?Ā Ā
āNo.. donāt touch me!ā The words had slipped though her lips before she knew what she had said, and how it came out louder than she meant for, causing couples at other tables to look over in concern. With a lower tone, she tried to explain herself.Ā āSorry⦠I just⦠I donāt like strangers touching me without a warning⦠and I mean⦠youāre not even a stranger⦠and you even warned me⦠I justā¦. I want to go home. Please.āĀ
His hands flinched back to his sides and Ben was quick to move out of the booth. He bit down his lower lip, choking down a cuss. Although he couldnāt keep himself from thinking it loudly in his head. Fuck. He drew a deep breath, unable to look at Chloe. If he did, he knew sheād find the hurt that sheād worked so hard to help him let go of. Except this one somehow felt like it stung a little harder-- maybe it was because the wound was fresh, or maybe it was because his fuck upās have stacked. And thatās exactly what he felt like-- a fuck up.
But this wasnāt about him. This was about Chloe.Ā āIām sorry, too.ā He responded quietly, stepping back further. There was a line he didnāt know heād stepped on, and he may as well step back so as to not add more damage. Despite the comfort he felt with Chloe, the fact remained that he didnāt know her; not like he knew Blesse, and not like Isaac knew Chloe. āIāll um--ā he didnāt even know how to end. He didnāt know if he was going to see her around. āI hope you feel better. Donāt let me keep you-- Iāll um-- Iāll just pay for the bill and head out too.ā

His touch was gentle and Avery welcomed every second of it. She missed his touch and even if it had only been a second since she felt it, she missed it even then. Whilst he spoke, the brunette could do nothing more than nod, letting it truly sink in that he wanted to be with her, that he forgave her.Ā
And then he spoke the two words she needed to hear. Not words that would stop the tears, that wouldnāt happen for some time she thought. But he loved her. Even despite the time, the distance and the heartache. He loved her. She didnāt want to get carried away imagining the life that the three of them could lead moving forward, they still had a lot of stuff to work through.Ā āRolphā You know I do too.ā She whispered softly, barely able to form words through all the emotion.Ā āI justā fuck. Sorry, Iām a mess.ā She chuckled, her voice still quiet and choked by her tears.Ā āBut you know Iāve loved you for a long time. Still do and have a feeling I always will.ā She pressed a soft kiss to his lips. āYouāre a little hard to forget.ā A small smirk graced her lips, teasing him gently before kissing him again.
It felt like one of his dreams-- getting to hold her in his arms, getting to feel her lips against his. Except this was so much better-- and so much worse. She was real. This was real. But he was also still processing the fact that sheād kept her distance and lied about where she was. Albeit it was to protect Amy and Rolph, the fact remained. Yet there was nothing else he could do was there? His options were to hold on to anger and lose her-- or let go of it and process everything to the best of his ability and never have to be without her again. The choice was not simple, but it definitely was plain to him what the right one was.
Hearing her say the words heād longed to hear for years on end since before she even decided to leave, his decision was well worth it. There were tears brimming from his eyes that fell when he closed them to concentrate on the feeling of her lips against his. He was afraid to wake up-- just in case this was a dream.Ā āAnd what do you think of when you fail to forget me?ā he asked with a teasing grin.

Harris had a skip in her step as they headed in and went straight to the line for the rollercoaster, her giddy ness almost causing her to rock back and forth on her feet. She moved to perch her chin on his shoulder, looking to him with a wide smile. āOf course, you can ask me anything you want.ā And sheād be honest with him too, he was the only person that she could tell anything too.
He wrapped his arm around Harris, pulling her closer to him as they stood in the queue. His eyes searched hers. His face was beet red as he hesitated,Ā āI just-- youāre going to think this is a dumb question but-- I wanted to talk about it so weāre on the same page--ā he closed his eyes, trying not to cringe,Ā āWe are-- together-- yes?ā That was the question. He definitely couldāve been more eloquent with coming out with it but he felt so flustered.

Tessa shook her head.Ā āI donāt want much. I just want someone to not ghost me after a date, call me pretty, maybe tell me Iām not a piece of shit sometimes, and bring me tacos when Iāve had a bad day. So why is it so fucking difficult for these men to just be honest with me. You have a wife? Cool. Just tell me.ā She sighed as she made her coffee and poured the cream in it.Ā āLike Iām really not asking for that much and all these guys I keep going on these stupid blind dates with canāt get it through their thick skulls. Maybe Iām just going to die alone.ā
āI seriously doubt youāre going to die alone, Tess,ā he responded with a certainty.Ā āYou canāt get rid of me that easily. Imma be there for you through it all,ā he assured his best friend with a grin.Ā āI know I canāt bring you tacos as often as you need me to because Iām rarely ever around. But maybe one day we can find someone whoāll do that for you. Itās just-- dating sucks-- dating is hard-- and like-- getting to know someone takes time. And in a generation that thrives on instant gratification, itās harder to find an actual connection.ā
ācan you just for oneāmoment. justāone. let me take care of you. you are obviously in a lot of pain and need some help. which isnāt a bad thing.ā maleah had been up all night worrying about them. she tried distracting herself by making up some new choreography to bring up with the studio later, but that didnāt seem to work. now here she is, four in the morning, standing at their front door almost begging to be let in.
āIāve been taking care of myself long before you were in the picture, Maleah,ā the redhead denied the other entry to her dingy home where she lived alone. The fact that the other cared so much about her moved Trixie. But she never allowed people to see they got to her. She never allowed other people to have control of her life. It was four in the morning, and she almost wanted to just give in.Ā
