WHO WANTS TO GO ON A BIKE RIDE? My Grandfather owned the first BIKE SHOP in the town of BEREZNE that was once Poland and now Ukraine. I put these two photos together 7 years ago when I returned to my parent’s original hometowns in 2014. MY FATHER AS BLACKIE THE CAT AS A PARTISAN. On Father’s Day today, I visited my parent’s graves and did a drawing of my dad as Blackie the Cat as a Partisan. 75 years! Today marks the 75th Anniversary of when my Parents got married, June 15, 1946. They have both passed away, but I love to remember their love and power to endure when they came together to start new lives. They were married in the Linz-Bindermichel Displacement Camp, after surviving the mass extermination of their individual towns and murder of their own parents, in what was Eastern Poland and now Ukraine. #benbaseman #naomibaseman #momanddad #anniversary #baseman #garybaseman They witnessed one of the most horrific events of mankind, but had the will to start fresh, moving to America, raising four children. But fortunately, being an artist, I can be inspired and draw a picture of my dad. Here I kept him alive by drawing him with my kitten Bosko, Blackie the Cat, Toby, ChouChou and Ahwroo. My dad lived such an extraordinary life, in his early adult years surviving some of the most horrific events of mankind. I’m even more determined to finish our documentary film telling your story.
