his month has mostly entailed fixing a few bugs that have come up on the website and starting planning for the presentation. Meg noticed that some of the earlier posts on the website had disappeared on the website, after looking into it I realised that I had completely forgotten to add forward and back buttons to the feeds. This meant that each feed would show the ten most recent posts but then put the rest on a second, inaccessible page. At first I attempted to use infinite scrolling, where the new posts load when the user gets to the bottom of the page, however I decided against this as the blog has many multimedia posts so it might slow down the page.
The next issue that needed fixing was that captions on photos were not appearing bellow photos, after hours of trying alter the code I resorted to deleting the entire photo and photoset code and re-entering it. I don’t know how that worked, but it did. Now everyone can see our witty comments.
After Matt and Tom managed to get the LCD’s working, I did a bit of research into whether it would be possible to gradient them. However, in the end we decided against it for a few reasons. The biggest reason we decided against it was simply that we decided it would be a waste of our time. A gradual change would be only aesthetic at best, and would be an active harm at worst. By having a slow gradient it would mean we could get more colours and make the gradient nicer but it would also mean that the response time would be slower, thus giving us less information on tasks such as white line following that will only change colour for less than a second.
I also put some time into learning how to use Blender to render our 3D designs, this not only means that our presentation will look amazing but that we will be able to see how our designs will look put together before we print them.
