In one of Judy’s episodes (check out her youtube vlogs here), she mentioned that she loved Benefit’s Hoola which she uses as contour powder. Since my face needs contouring, I thought of getting one even though I have been using Happy Skin’s Glisten Up Contour Stick and Nars’ Blush in Silvana.
I noticed when Happy Skin Contour Stick is applied on top of an already set face, it will wipe off the foundation. So, I started using Nars’ Silvanna to set my contour. Sadly, my Nars’ Silvana is almost gone, so I figured what better time to try something else 😅
When I got to the Benefit counter at BGC Central, the sales assistant told me that for Php100 I get the promo set, which has, in addition to a full size Hoola, sample sized POREfessional primer and Watt’s Up! Cream Highlighter 👍🏼🙌🏼 Never to pass on a good deal, I got the promo pack 😁
I have tried POREfessional primer (and the POREFessional Agent Zero Shine) about 2 years ago, so I kind of know what to expect. This primer claims to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines, which I think it does. It also has a matte finish, which is perfect for combo skins like mine. However, after a few hours, I have had to bust out my blotting sheets to blot my T-Zone 😅 Another downside of this primer is that it is infused with Vitamine E, which is not very agreeable with my skin (I break-out when I use products with Vitamine E)
Moving on, the Watt’s Up! Cream Highlighter is a a soft focus cream highlighter that dries into a powdery finish. I love the champagne color which gives you that natural glowy skin from within. Watt’s Up! has a smooth finish that mimics the appearance of naturally glowing skin 👍🏼 The downside: it will wipe-off your set make-up if you apply it after powder. I find the best time to apply this is after liquid fonda but before your powder. I know, it’s counter intuitive (since it appears that you're covering it up), but, this formulation let’s the glow out even if it’s under foundation.
Now for the Hoola, I love that it’s a matte bronzing powder that gives you that healthy tan. It’s also perfect as a contour powder. Very pigment and blends easily 👍🏼 I use the brush that it comes with because it has a more defined line, which is perfect for contour.
For today’s rainy Monday make-up, I used Happy Skin’s contour stick underneath (after liquid foundation but before powder fonda) with the Watt’s Up highligher. After setting, I applied Hoola to my cheeks, chin, and forehead. Also on this look is Koko K from Kylie Cosmetics.
Photoset: enclosed area (L) and under natural light (R )- applied my make-up and took these photos while en route to work because traffic was horrendous!
