Just finished When the Tides Held the Moon and it was beautiful and poetic and colorful and all of the things and I love it but I am getting increasingly worked up over the ambiguity of the ending to the point it is starting to genuinely annoy me that I can't find answers online. Is NO ONE ELSE bothered that we were given a trail a breadcrumbs to follow back to Benny's past in the hurricane and then given no real answers?

WHAT HAPPENED???? IS HE OR ISN'T HE A MERMAN???? HOW DID HE END UP IN PUERTO RICO IF HE WAS???? IF HE IS NOT AND HE IS SOMETHING ELSE THAT RIO CLEARLY RECOGNIZED, THEN WHAT??????

I'll accept that their future will be ambiguous because that's just how authors do it. Do I wish we got an actual glimpse of what came after they escaped? Yes. Their life together? Of course! But I can find fanfic for that.

But don't lead me to water and then tell me there is no water to drink!!! I need answers!!!!! 😫
