I'm gonna keep my expectations for Billions Season 7 as low as I can. All I want is for Winston to still be in it and for Ben to never speak to him.

fun benston college professors idea. ok well fun is a strong word but we'll just go with it as I'm typing this on the verge of passing out. college au. the university is forcing the econ and computing departments to offer a joint degree in cs/econ (which is a thing irl which is what got me thinking about this). being the Most Disliked faculty members of their respective colleges that they are, winston and ben are forced to do the Tedious work of coming up with the curriculum for this new degree and figuring out a bunch of Logistics. they spend Many long hours alone in a room together, hammering this stuff out and generally get to know each other very well after all that time.

ben, looking at the clock: oh shit it's 8 pm we should probably head home.

winston, who has literally nothing going for him in his personal life: oh yeah.... home. haha yeah I'm headed out, I'll see you tomorrow! [spends the next 5 hours in his lab, getting more work done and being Sad]

they are both friends with taylor, who is also teaching in the same department as ben, but they don't realize the other knows taylor. so they've both been separately doing their Gay Complaining to taylor who is Suffering as these two idiots who are both brilliant and Well Respected in their field, but so Fucking Dumb when it comes to each other, circle each other for Months On End.

Okay. So I’ve come up with the perfect plot for billions season 5.

So now that TMC is “working for” Axe Cap, Ben and Winston are going to probably end up meeting at some point. So let’s just say that Winston sees someone at Axe Cap being a dick to Ben and Ben having trouble standing up for himself, so Winston ends up standing up for him (in his wonderfully sassy Winston way). Now next thing we know, Winston is giving Ben advice on how to be more assertive and Ben is helping Winston control his tongue a little more.

Now that they are hanging out, the two of them start to develop feelings for each other and it’s adorable. Unfortunately, their relationship doesn’t remain a secret and Taylor learns about it. Taylor realizes that they (for whatever reason) can exploit Winston and Ben’s relationship and get the upper hand on Axe.

Taylor thinks about it because it seems like the perfect plan, but then they think about their own relationship with Oscar and how badly they were hurt when Axe exploited it and they realize that they can’t do it. Ultimately Taylor decides that if they hurt one of their employees to get revenge on Axe, then they are no better than Axe, so they don’t do it.

And (for more reasons I’ve yet to think up) this ends up being the right choice and Taylor ends up with an even better opportunity, Winston’s trust and loyalty, and a new employee since Ben ultimately realizes that TMC is a better place to work.

I know that there’s a ton of handwaving here, but basically what I’m saying is that season 5 is a chance for Winston and Ben to end up together, Taylor to prove that they are better than Axe and be rewarded for it, Taylor and Winston to grow their friendship, and Ben to join TMC. And it could all feasibly happen and still play into the normal twists and turns of Billions!

Here’s to hoping I can predict the future as well as Winnie seems to be able to!
