Pokémon-themed bento to wrap up the month of February!

If you're a '90s momma like myself, you probably spent Friday nights tuning in to a local network (GMA 7), waiting for Pokémon: Indigo League to air.

But there are more beyond the original 150 pokémons we all knew and loved. Here are some mythical/next-generation pokémons that my son Kyren requested.

But the highlight of my Pokémon-themed creations was this special nori art I made for an ausome kid, a son of a good friend, who loves Charmander and Bulbasaur so much! 🧡💚

I know how tough motherhood can be, and I can only imagine how much more challenging it is when you're raising a child on the spectrum. This order reminds me why I do what I do—to bring joy to kids through food! ❤️ That's why I make sure every meal I serve is made with so much love, no matter how intricate the details are.

Soba salad bento for the Bottomless Pit who needs to eat healthier in my new metal-bamboo bento box which I got as a freebie.

I put the dressing of truffle white soy sauce and olive oil in a re-used chicken essence bottle so it’s easier to carry around.

(Chicken Essence is a traditional health supplement, kinda tastes like extremely concentrated chicken soup)

Anyone know any recipes with crab sticks (artificial crab) in them aside from sushi rolls? I've gotten into making my lunch for work in the style of bento boxes lately, because it's usually easy and not too heavy. Especially in the summer. (Plus microwaveable meals are getting old.)

My sibling suggested an onigiri recipe, which I might try, if I can get sushi rice or short grain rice, but I'm trying to get more ideas. I already made my lunch for tomorrow: tuna and spaghetti pasta (kinda like a tuna casserole thing, but minus the use of an oven and I mixed in mayonnaise and a splash of lime juice - DELICIOUS) and a bocadillo. (Also called bocata. Learned the recipe from the Street Fighter cookbook, but I use prosciutto instead of serrano ham as I can't find it anywhere.)

I just need ideas for Saturday's lunch. Might delete later, as this is an art blog. But cooking can be considered a form of art, right?

Also I realize that some people probably don't like artificial crab, and I completely understand. I've had some that was really fucking sweet, in a really gross way. 🤢

Should probably add that I can't just fry them. I only have an air fryer, and I have no idea how to use it. Also not in the mood for fried stuff.

I'm sure many of us fell in love with the bento trend during the lockdown, but it's more than just a meal in a box. For us moms, it has become a beautiful expression of creativity, convenience and balance. It's fun, also therapeutic, and can heal one's inner child in the most imaginative way.

Most importantly, it represents my love as a mom; that through every little character I incorporate into their meal, my kids would always feel close to home. Food is my love language, and nothing can represent this love better than the colorful bento boxes I carefully curate every morning.

It's a daily reminder that no matter how busy life gets, there’s always room for love. ♡
