benvoliism
it had been years.
the streets of verona had changed, but most of all, he had changed while away from them. he stood ungracefully, he wasn’t feared like he used to be. by now his family cared seldom for him so he didn’t bother on checking in. but something was different; something about verona. no one fought like they used to. he could get used to it.
walking down the street with a cigarette in hand, watching the smoke float daintily up to the sky-- tybalt was silent and content being here again, knowing that juliet was okay back at home. but almost as if fate had beckoned him, his head lifted to recognize benvolio across the street. she seemed so... so different. so withdrawn. tybalt crossed the street, ignoring the car that honked in his midst. he outstretched his arm, catching her sleeve on his hand and standing with his mouth agape. “benvolio?”
benvoliism {continued from meme}
he jolted from his thoughts when he heard the familiar voice, immediately looking up at the other.
oh, how embarrassing.
wincing at his own behavior and rubbing away at the wetness of his face, both from rain and tears -- he began his series of mumbling that could be taken as excuses.
“benvolio.” he said to her once he had gotten his bearings together, a natural frown coming to his features. “think nothing ---- i got caught up in a memory. everything’s fine.”

send me a ” ○ ” for my character’s reaction to finding yours sitting outside in the rain, upset.
“why, benvolio, are you sitting in the rain looking an awfullot like a kicked dog ?” he hoped his words were enough topull her out of her thoughts; he didn’t take very kindly to being ignored. he refused to sit down next to her; instead, stayed standing, frowning lightly down on her. “— … if you’resad, the rain doesn’t give you any affirmation or advice foryour sadness. the only thing it gives you is a cold, so run alonghome.” he turned his head, refusing to meet her gaze, and letout the quietest of irritated grunts as he stalked off. he was gettingtoo nice, he figured, and it frustrated him to no end.

❝ benvolio. ❞
the word tasted like bitter poison on his lips -- oh, how he loathed the montague his eyes had landed on !! romeo was tolerable now that he had linked their families, but benvolio still managed to get on his nerves every time he thought of her -- such a weak person to crave peace in the way she did , it practically drove him insane.
❝ i don’t think i’ll ever get used to seeing montagues near my house, even if our families ARE connected now ; the marriage has hardly dampened my burning hate for you. ❞

" ... What was."
He can't even describe it himself. Was it a chirp? A horn? All he knows is that the sound itself was tiny, metallic like everything else in this century. Hamlet points accusingly at the device in her hand, quizzical expression unmistakable.
"What was that sound?"
" SLAP! "
Send me “SLAP!” for my muse’s reaction to getting slappedin the face by yours: ACCEPTING.
Hamlet hisses, hand coming so quickly to his face it sounds almost as though he’s been slapped a second time.
"Ben, I – I was just teasing.“
There his hand rubs, pride wounded, as he mutters beneath his breath. The words are a clumsy marriage between English and Danish, which allows only a few swears to transcend the language barrier: one of which being a sore, fuck me.
"You might have at least not swung so heavily!”
