Dense ice in Cierva Cove. This ice would have come from deep down in a glacier (possibly the glacier in the background). Under great pressure, the ice would have become very dense. This 'bergy bit' is beautiful to look at, like a giant crystal, and colours can be clear, blue, green, and even black. But 'clear' brash ice, and even clear bergy bits, can be difficult to spot and a potential hazard for shipping. One reason for a good watch on the bridge of a ship! #iceberg #bergybit #blueice #clearice #g_expedition #kevthenatureguide #antarctic_ambassadors (at Gerlache Strait) https://www.instagram.com/p/B--j_QHjEHs/?igshid=dx5cma2954eu
