A perfect Berliner Weisse. Seriously... smelled amazing, super clean and bright and berry-full. This is not a beer style I prefer and yet I’d have several of these. Â
Beer of the night: Mikkeller Brewing San Diego "Freckle Face" The ginger takes the front row seat on the smell and taste and the orange fills in nicely on the back. Damn refreshing on a hot night. Can't help but think of that South Park Ginger episode....

Hooooo Weeeee that’s sour. I feel like the Big Show just walked up to me and smacked me across the face with his flapjack hands then choke slammed me through the ring because this has punished my tastebuds in the best way I can imagine. Noon Whistle definitely knows their way around a sour beer and this beer is just another great example of their finesse and prowess with the style. All these hoppy beers lately have been really been doing it for me but this sour has dragged me right back into the style like I was starring in Drag Me To Hell. A nice malt forward bready flavor starts things off with some pucker and sour tightening up your face and smacking the shit out of you quickly after before closing up with a slight white wine flavor and funky wheat flavor. I seriously love these guys and I’m pretty depressed that I only have one beer left so maybe I’ll have to ration it and drink it over the course of the year a sip at a time to make it last. Fuck that, Noon Whistle’s lineup is too good to even wait more than a half hour to drink because the flavor and drinkability is present in every one of their offerings. Whether this is your first sour or you lost your pucker virginity long ago, this is a great beer to pick up because it is both delicious and sessionable so snag a can ASAP. Cheers!

I put off drinking this one because I thought it would be too fruity for some reason but it's not. It's a really good, slightly sweet, raspberry sour 😋
Berliner Weiss from West Shore Brewery
Taste for sour beer may be due to evolution
Taste for sour beer may be due to evolution
The power of sour is undeniable. For centuries, breweries have been making sour beers that range from mildly tart to toe-curling, tooth enamel-eating sour. Sour beers that go by names like gose (pronounced go-zah), lambic, Berliner Weiss and more are seeing a surge in popularity rivaled only by the IPA craze of the past few years. And, with the hot, humid summer months coming, you will see more…
