📍BERLIN 🇩🇪: Who would have that an island would be called 'The Museum Island'. Don't trust me? Visit Berlin. 6 museums on a single island on the Spree River and I am not even kidding. A history lover's paradise. Amazing Architecture. What else are you looking for? The one you see is the Berlin Cathedral. So yes it is not a museum. Just look at the diversity. 📍Berlin 🇩🇪: I just love the sunsets because of the splash of colours they bring to the sky. We were wondering near the Brandenburg Gate, when we had a idea to just have a walk towards the Reichstag, or the German Parliament. As we reached, it was already late in the evening, it was getting dark however, there was enough light to capture this gem. The Gate and this building aren't very far from each other. So you can just walk. _ | Historical Berlin | Germany | _ TRAVEL TIP: The parliament can be visited for free but you cannot just enter it any time. You have to book it online before hand and there you get to see all the details of the visit. So do not just go and try to enter. This booking can only be done online. Do it early as a lot of people book it. The dome at the top is made of glass and you can see a 360° view of the city from there. You can witness history inside as you are taken through a time warp right during the German Empire till WW. It was however badly destroyed in 1933 but later reformed. _ PHOTO TIP: Its difficult to get such colors in this dark. Thus the drop in quality. I didn't have a tripod with me so couldn't reduce the shutter speed a lot. Hence higher ISO, hence more noise, hence more noise reduction and hence bad quality. Apologies. I will carry tripod next time. oLiA presents today’s Berlin culture

Hello people!

It’s that time of the year, the summer is almost gone but the dresses are still short and the nights warm. Berlin is full of opportunities to enjoy the sun, get roasted like a chicken and meanwhile live a bit of the 2019 berlin culture! oLiA is a personal notebook with selected open air gems happening every week in August. Check out some of the hottest spots and dive into the last glimpses of today’s Berlin!

The capital Berlin has a vibrating culture that rises up against oppressors, parties hard all week long and creates new street food values every day. Berlin is known for independent communities of residents that organize support systems and colorful places like a Villekulla for minorities, art, sport, education, parties and much more. Unfortunately these solidarities are often victims of gentrification and so this independent Berlin becomes increasingly rare. Offene Luft im August (oLiA) selects outdoor events that are „berlin“, some of them by independent communities but all passionate and outdoors.

This is a personal and independent project by Nathalie Vernier: moved to Berlin in 2007 due to its job opportunities and the rent prices in other cities, studied and worked in and out of the capital, fell in love with a Ostberliner and stayed. This project is neither sponsored nor supported and does not contain any advertisements. All informations are personal recommendations, were found online and might be outdated if the weather is bad, changes are made at the event or by its hosts.
