i'm not sure i've talked about my bernysus stuff too much before, never in depth so. fuck it. basically Tim saves Bernard from being sacrificed, and Dionysus takes an interest in them. like he was gonna do something if Bernard was successfully sacrificed, and then he is like "hold on, let him cook" because Bernard is just a little deranged.

most of TD:R happens, and Tim takes Kate's place as a sacrifice and that's where things diverge. the rescue takes too long for whatever reason, funny answer is that Bernard was pacing real hard while waiting for Batman and Bruce can't just be normal he has to make sure he sneaks up on him.

so they're too late. but Dionysus is like "hold on lemme cook. take that knife, yeah the one in your boyfriend's chest. yeah. okay, trust me here. stab yourself romeo and juliet style." and berrnard is like "well I don't got much to live for anyway, I'll trust this disembodied voice" and Dionysus takes over to get the rest of the job done. he tears the beating heart out of bernard's chest, shoves it into Tim's and because he's like. (a) God. it heals up all nice and tim is fine. and Dionysus isn't gonna leave a bro hanging so he just. lives in the gaping hole in bernard's chest. or like. he keeps watch through there. Bernie's fine. He can make grapes now. Turns ropes into vines. chaos monsters into dolphins and they're just kind of flopping around while Batman is trying to punch his rage out because he has to do something with his feelings about a third dead son and- oh hey he's fine, no need to unpack his feelings about that.

so then Bernard, with the power of (a) God and Anime on his side, is a little morally dubious if it means he can protect his heart (Tim) from the freaks of Gotham.

He still tells Pie that he's in a throuple with Tim and Robin. the marina residents that were present for the showdown pretend they do not know that that twink is also their robin.

and he's kind of slutty about being morally dubious and protecting tim by any means. Tim for one enjoys his sexy morally dubious boyfriend. and he learns self care because he's not just taking care of himself, he's taking care of Bernard's heart.

I don't have anything cool to say but there's a Dionysus story where he's a sexy little hostage on a ship and he like. turns a bunch of ropes into snakes or some shit and then when his captives fall off the ship they become dolphins.

bernysus would do that shit to people fucking with tim while loudly belting out Symphony by Clean Bandit

this is a shitpost but i have this whole au that this song fits perfectly. i'll ramble about it under a readmore but the TL:DR is that Tim gets got, and Bernard gives him his physical beating heart in exchange for becoming Dionysus' vessel. In Which Tim is Bernard's Heart.

okay so like. after almost getting sacrificed, Bern's had this voice in the back of his head. at the end of TD:R, Bern is too late. and that voice in bernard's head is loud. everyone bernard called to help is understandably busy being mad and fighting that they don't fight the civilian going up to his dead boyfriend on an altar and they don't notice him taking the dagger, and they're way too late to stop him from plunging it into his own chest.

he doesn't die of course, and he's yanking his heart out of his chest and shoving it into Tim's and somehow he not only doesn't die, but Tim has a Captain Jack Harkness moment and breathes back to life.

so bernard has this gaping hole in his chest that start's glowing and that's what I lovingly refer to as Dionysus's Apartment Management Office. that's where he lives. like. he's not taking over Bernard, he lives here and Bernard has to pay rent. to live. He needs godly offerings so that his body doesn't shut down.

so Bernard has to become a cult leader. he's really sexy about it. and uh. tim has to run away from his gay thoughts about it.
