🎶 It’s a Jolly Holiday with “Mary” 🎶 In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month I wanted to talk about the impact a person with a disability has on a sibling. It’s not always a “Jolly Holiday”. It’s hard, frustrating and can be scary to a child who has limited understanding of the world. She doesn’t understand why Blake can be segregated or at times isolated (because of his limited speech/behaviors he doesn’t have much of a social life with people who are not family). People staring has also been a challenge, we wish people would talk to us and ask us questions if they have any. It is also life changing in a very positive way. Blake and Kaleigh have a very similar relationship than any other set of siblings. They love each other and annoy each other in equal amounts. Honestly, Kaleigh is the best sister; kind and loving. This journey has taught her a lot in her young life. What I know for sure is that we are all learning together and having a blast along the way! Here we have my little “Bert” and “Mary Poppins”. The custom Bert jacket was made by the talented @kate.hepworth.14 as was the Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday Dress (which will be available for purchase soon via evolution-vintage.com with proceeds benefitting @cuhsdrama #MaryPoppins #JollyHoliday #MaryandBert #BertandMary #Disney #Fantasy #Siblings #DSAM #DownSyndrome #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth #disneymarypoppins #itsajollyholidaywithmary (at Evolution Vintage Style & Creative Headquarters) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3ioH5ig58K/?igshid=qhe4ab2olbhh
