One day, Eren innocently asks “I wonder what humans taste like?” It’s a question that rests heavy on not just Eren’s mind but Bertolt’s as well, as the guilt of unwittingly being the cause of Eren’s mother’s death takes shape in the form of nightmares of Eren gobbling him up.

Let me present (imo) the best piece of EreBeru work in existence. It’s a heavy comic but the art/imagery is fantastic, it stays true to the characters’ personalities, and it accurately depicts the complex nature of their relationship. Bertolt’s final words in the comic are so bittersweet, so mournful that I’m still affected to this day.

I’ve lowkey been a fan of this pairing for a while and it saddens me that it isn’t popular at all. I can only hope that Eren and Bertolt will have at least one more meaningful interaction before the end.
