MUSIGA revives Ghana Music Month Festival after 2-year hiatus
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is thrilled to announce the return of the Ghana Music Month Festival, set to take place from Friday, March 1, 2024, to Sunday, March 31, 2024. This highly anticipated event marks the seventh edition of the festival, which has become a staple in Ghana’s music calendar since its inception in 2013.
Due to the unprecedented challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, MUSIGA has not hosted the festival since 2022. However, with careful planning and adherence to health protocols, the Union is excited to bring back this celebration of Ghanaian music and culture.
The festival will feature a diverse range of activities aimed at promoting Ghanaian music and supporting local artists. Highlights of this year’s program include Friday, March 1: The official launch of GMM 2024 and Play Ghana Month on selected radio and television stations.
Tuesday, 5th March, 2024 – Free health screening (ATIC)
Tuesday, 5th March, 2024 – Music business seminar (ATIC)
Wednesday & Thursday, 6th and 7th March, 2024 – Akwaaba Music Festival (National Theater)
Monday, 11th March 2024 – Play Ghanaian music the whole day.
The musical performances will feature renowned artists including Fameye, Kwabena Kwabena, Trigmatic, Pat Thomas, Bessa Simons, Tagoe Sisters, Celestine Donkor, Diana Hopeson, Abena Ruthy, among others.
MUSIGA remains committed to supporting the Ghanaian music industry and providing opportunities for artists to thrive. The Ghana Music Month Festival serves as a platform to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and vibrant creativity of Ghanaian musicians.
