okay thats better, wtf. apparently the 'best stuff first' dashboard option is actually the 'heres the exact same feed for days and every time you try to refresh you are just going to see a hint of what could be and oh now its gone lol heres the same post youve been looking at every day for a week' option
good to know
This is your reminder to go to settings>dashboard and turn off “see best stuff first” - basically it’s putting all the stuff with a lot of notes on top of people’s dashes and completely tanking engagement on creator’s blogs - especially writers and artists.
Tumblr pulled a dick move and set it to on as a default, and this is also why you’re not getting as much new content as you used to.
Best Stuff First
If you’ve been noticing that your feed doesn’t seem to be changing, don’t freak out: it’s a feature on the “Dashboard” settings called “Best Stuff First” that is on by default.
Just toggle it to go back to the normal tumblr experience.
How to turn off Best Stuff First
Quick reminder, since tumblr has been automatically turning on some of the features that mess with your dashboard with the updates lately
You can turn that stuff off on mobile by pressing the wheel with teeth on the upper right corner of your home page, then going to General settings -> Dashboard preferences, and then just turn all that stuff off, and return to the normal, linear tumblr experience, where you don’t see random posts from strangers
In case you’re wondering why you’re seeing older posts first on your dash: It ain’t an error!
You can switch back to chronological order if you want to . . .
Go to → Settings → Dashboard [appearance options] → Preferences.
so i thought something was a little wonky about my newsfeed lately but i finally looked and now there is a setting called 'best stuff first'? so i'm switching that mother off, the only way to tumblr is chron-o-log-i-cal-ly, tumblr, make a note of that
New Toggle
Hey friends. Don’t know if anyone will see this, but Tumblr has added a new toggle. “Best Stuff First” may be useful to someone out there, but now you know about it! Under settings and dashboard. Looks like it’s automatically on. Have a great day!
