okay i just watched your video essay on the rise and fall of the witcher and leaving a comment on yt was not enough so here i am. man. the amount of work you put into this is simply astounding. and you illustrated everything so well and coherently!! i especially loved the ‘framing device’ of comparing orwellian and huxleian viewpoints and how they shape entertainment landscapes, as well as your deep dive into the relevant elements of polish history. but honestly every part was fantastic and crazy insightful, and the way you structured the essay and connected everything seamlessly elevated the points you made so well. as a polish fan of the witcher i feel this essay was very much needed and it’s certainly greatly appreciated <3

also nice, i'm glad that the orwellian/huxleian take and the look into some polish history was interesting and relevant to people; it's actually funny because i wasn't sure how people would react to it, i even tried to shorten this part because i thought it wouldn't be as interesting as, say, the netflix discussion!

Bestiarum's Dread Necromancer bust

Here's a print and paint of Bestiarum Game's Dread Necromancer bust.

I've got quite a few of Bestiarum's busts printed out - they make some incredible miniatures and I love the look and lore behind them all. This is the first thing I've painted in a while and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

For reference, here is their original:

I stayed pretty faithful to their colour scheme and look. Technique wise it was a quick primer and then blocking out the base colours with the airbrush. Then I went in and detailed everything with a brush before giving it a generous coating of flesh, black and 'blood' washes to grime it up a little. Finally added some drybrushed highlights on top of the grungy, washed up model before coating it in Mr Hobby clear matte and some satin varnish for the skin.

The base was a quick airbrush, wash and drybrush and then I promptly glued my fingers together while trying to attach the base to the model itself.

OKAY SO. i got to read the last smile in sunder city (finally)!! started yesterday evening and it sucked me in so much i had a hard time putting it down sjsjsjjs but eventually i gave up cause my eyes could barely see the letters in front of me. finished it today. and decided to come into your inbox because your recs were one of the biggest factors which pushed me to actually get into luke's books :) so yeah thank you for that sjsjsjsjsj

(also i have a question. which book should I read next sjdjdjjd like which is the second one in the series? is it dead man in a ditch or the other one)

I would genuinely love to hear any thoughts you had about the first book (which in my opinion is actually the least remarkable of the three; like it's still good but it's just setting things up, ya know?) if you have any after reading it so fast lol

The next book is Dead Man In A Ditch and hooooooo boy. Put on your big kid pants for that one, there will Be Emotions... 🫠
