Friday, 9 June, 2017. Sunny, humid and big clouds. I was out to see my doctor for a hormone shot and Rx refills. Feeling well... my right knee bothers me when I walk.
Been working on the usual... my paintings, my theory about the Speed of Light (http://ElectronSpeed.Tumblr.com), selfies, exercises... sit ups and weights.
A common question I get is “what is bigger, an Electron or a Quark?”.
Well... the answer is not simple. All Quarks, except the Up Quark, have Electron Volt masses greater than an Electron. That said, a Proton, consisting of Three Quarks, two UP and one DOWN, is about 1,800 times the mass of an Electron, but appears to occupy similar, or not a lot more, space. What’s with that?
That is easy to answer and falls under a Fallacy of Ambiguity... a poor comprehensions of what is BIG and what is big. In Quantum Mechanics, Electrons and quarks are NOT seen, so much, as objects but as POINT SOURCES. Everyone seems to ignore that they DO occupy space... have ‘hereness’ and ‘thereness’... AT THE SAME TIME. They have simultaneousness, ‘here’ and ‘there’ as a WAVE in TIME.
Sub Atomic particles are measured by their energy, NOT their WEIGHT, nor their SIZE... they are quoted as so many Giga Electron Volts to the minus 12th to 15th powers... really small, times the speed of light squared. So, how big is big?
In size... the amount of space displaced, by each, a Quark might seem to be smaller, but it is much heavier, most of them (8 out of 9). It’s like comparing a ping pong ball to a ball of iron, the same physical size. Quarks, with the exception of an UP Quark, have more mass than an electron, by about, at least, 25%.
Electrons are the smallest physical particles in the universe, and the most abundant, outnumbering all other particles, combined. Electrons are, often, one of the by-products of decay of OTHER particles. BETA radiation IS Electrons.
Electrons set the speed of light and are the clock of our Light Speed Universe.
