97. Today's Shojo/Josei manga with neither an official nor a fan translation is Arthurian legend-inspired manga "Kiniro no Mabinogion: Arthur-ou no Imouto Hime" (金色のマビノギオン ─アーサー王の妹姫─ or The Golden Mabinogion: Arthur's Sister) by Nanpei Yamada. The manga published its first few chapters in Bessatsu Hana to Yume (Betsuhana) in 2017 before transferring to Hana Lala Online, and later that same year transferring again to publish in Hakusensha's Manga Park website, concluding there in 2024. Nanpei Yamada has previously been published in English with Sky Blue Shore (out of print) and the currently available Loving Moon Dog. If their Loving Moon Dog series published by Seven seas does well enough, we could perhaps hope to see this series published in English as well.
This is the synopsis:
Tamaki, a girl with golden eyes, is on a school trip to England with her childhood friends Makoto and Hironori when she suddenly finds herself lost in a strange world... There, she finds a boy with golden eyes just like her lying on the ground...!? Yamada Nanpei's long-awaited new Arthurian legend!
Madam Petit ended! I got the magazine with the last chapter, because it had an extra booklet. The magazine is usually released on the 26th, but many magazines are out already the day before, so I really hoped to get this in Tokyo, but it wasn’t there in the only Animate I could go to - had to wait a bit longer till I got it at the end of the month.
The story wrapped up nicely, and the fate of Mariko and Niiram was also believable. In the end they had to separate for 10 years so Padma’s son would be big enough. Both looked nice after the time skip as adults, but they looked great for the whole chapter. While I love the series, it was a pity that Niiram became uglier over the course of the series. It was probably partially an intentional change to show him more grown up, but it didn’t work out that well. But in the end everything was nice again. I’m looking forward to Takao Shigeru’s next work.
