Another factor that likely slows down our healthcare system is that the US is constantly lowering the bar, so politicians can justify not fixing it by saying that at least its not as bad as in the US. Kind of like a lot of problems here...

That there's a stiffer penalty for pointing out dishonesty in the assembly than there is for engaging in it, sure is something.
YUP. It’s so absurd, and they’re so finicky about it. Like you can’t say the words “lie” or “liar” at all. Automatic point of order. The fact that sometimes the person speaking ABSOLUTELY IS LYING doesn’t matter. The big thing in the most recent sessions has been around “mislead” or “misleading.” You can say “the government is misleading Albertans” but you can’t say “the hon. member is misleading Albertans” because then you’ve made a personal accusation, which is somehow way worse than talking shit about the government or the opposition generally. So Jason Nixon, for example, can ramble on at length about how “the NDP didn’t tell Albertans the truth, the Official Opposition weren’t honest with Albertans, Albertans can’t trust anything the NDP says because they’re so dishonest,” but the second anyone says that the hon. Government House Leader is misleading the House, the Speaker wags his finger at them. And both sides benefit from being able to go “Hey! You can’t say the word ‘lie’! Stop that right now!” since they both exaggerate on occasion, so no one ever points out how fucking ridiculous it is that they’re literally admitting the truth doesn’t matter as much as their taking offence at being called a liar.
What is love?

betsumei replied to your post “is it possible for a provincial election to be called early in...”
It could also happen if, for some reason, the UCP asked the Lieutenant Governor to dissolve the legislature early. But that's an extremely unlikely event.
Yeah this too.
But yeah its super unlikely the UCP would want to just call an election early. They have nothing to gain and a lot to lose.
In my Edmonton riding polls are 7:30 to 19:30/7:30 PM, don't want anyone to miss out because they're expecting the polls open later!

If "everyone knows what he thinks" about those comments, then why play coy and refuse to say what he thinks?
