As promised, this is my second, newly recovered betta, Gimpy!!
When I first met this guy, he was floating on his side at the top of his cup, and only perked up when I picked him up for a better look.
Being a rose petal betta, he was the most expensive fish on the shelf, which meant that between the price and him looking very dead, he would likely never be bought, so...
His favorite place to sleep is behind the water heater cord, or against the foam covering the filter intake. He recognizes the sight of the pellet container, and does excited wiggles whenever he sees me coming with it.
Gimpy is also not a morning fish, and gets crabby if I turn the light on before 7am. He also nopes out around 9pm, at which point he tucks himself behind his cord for the night.
Thanks to this little dude, I've had an INSTENSIVE crash course in betta health and maintenance, and have found a vet in my area who does treat betta, resulting in me being far more prepared to be a betta caregiver than I was when I impulse-bought Slick.
This little doof and his bigger doof brother have stolen my heart. I never thought I'd love a fish as much as I do, but they've got me hook, line, and sinker.
