The conversation got to him more than anything really had lately. He’d felt lost since it all happened, lost and confused. But he’d busied himself enough to push it to the back of his mind. One somewhat honest conversation was all it took to have that lost feeling consume him, quickly becoming overwhelming to the point where he needed to just get out of there. His job was simplistic on so many levels, but he couldn’t do it, mind elsewhere, mind on something he’d put off thinking about without realizing he’d been doing so. Dani was doing this for him. It didn’t change however she felt toward being around him at the moment, that’s what Mason told himself. She needed to cope the way she needed to cope and, but one normal thing with her felt like the breath of life he needed, so he’d take it, thankful and guilty over the effort she was putting in for him. “Hey,” he greeted, making his way up from behind her, two solo cups with the beer he’d bought filling them in hand for the walk. “You two ready?” He asked, bending down after handing her the cup to greet Olsen with an ear scratch and a pat.
