This is a positive place. All posts will be positive in nature, meant to encourage, advise, and bring a smile to your face! A bit about me: I'm Jae! I'm in my early 30s, a librarian and have wanderlust. nothing wrong with being easy to please! give all the books you read five stars. watch that movie again after people tell you that it wasn’t that great. play that band’s new album on repeat, even though it’s not supposed to be as good as their old stuff. refuse to say anything critical about something you thought was cool. be bold in telling grumpy people “actually i liked it a lot!”

Probably The Most Important Post I have ever made on this hellsite

This is a weird request. I know this amazing young girl, who has become like family to me almost. The thing is, she lives on the other side of the world, and she's going through a tough time.

She's a young trans woman. No matter how much a adore her, and want to be there for her, I cant fully understand or empathise with her experience. So all the advice I give her, comes from a place of love but not understanding.

What I feel like she really needs, is to find and talk to someone who has been through what she has, and come out the other side. Sort of like the buddy system, or a sponsor.

So that's why I'm making this post. I'm hoping to find someone/s with the kind of life experience that my friend needs to hear about.

So if you're Trans and 18 or older, and you have the time and emotional capacity (please don't push yourself if it's going to upset you, you matter as well) to talk to me, and maybe her, could you message me?

I promise this is nothing weird. And that nobody has to give any information they don't want to.

Also if anyone knows of any legit and safe discord groups for Trans people to talk, that could be helpful for her.

I'm really really worried about her right now, and this is sort of a desperate attempt to find her some hope.

Reminder that puffins are extremely social and like to fit in with their friends, so they will adopt mannerisms and interests of the group. So there is a good chance this little guy is trying to be friends with the photographer by showing his interest in the camera.

the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible

because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person 

from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating

I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.

This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.
