We have a mini-album coming out in October on FatCat Records. It's called 'Better Ghosts' and this is the artwork by our friend Bradley Kerl. These things demand a label but we can't decide whether it's an EP, a mini-album or just an album. Pretty sure it doesn't matter. The same could be said for the 'IBB Tape' LP that came out just after our first proper album 'A Thousand Heys'. I'm confused.
We had a whole host of songs earmarked for a new album and we were keen to record a couple of covers we'd been doing on tour. Anyhow, we booked some studio time and the EP idea sprawled and stretched into a 10 song record. I think 'experimental' is one of the most overused words in music but it was really liberating to make a record that didn't have any expectations. The live sounding songs were recorded at Soundsavers in Homerton... a really great place to record if you're into recording onto tape. They have a Tascam 388 which we drooled over. The rest of the tracks were done on our Tascam 488 at home. That's for tape nerds.
Pitchfork just premiered a song 'Hayfever Wristband' - http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/16038-hayfever-wristband/
That's Donovan on the cover btw
