Annoying you all with my book reviews : Part 1
Listen, I wanted to make a booktok account but I'm too anxious to show the madness within so I'm gonna do it here
Today's review : Rivers Of London
I have... Very mixed feelings with this series. In the way that I am ready to protect the first 2 books with my life, but the rest of the series...
Let me explain.
I LOVE the characters. Peter Grant my sweet sassy wizard apprentice. Thomas Nightingale my beloved. Molly I love you. Beverley Brooks my girl. Abdul Walid my fave pathologist. Abigail Kamara you the best.
But after book 2, it became... Weird. In the way that I still loved the characters and their bickering, the plot twists and the endings bitch I never saw them coming. But aside from this, it's slow. I know we have to link the other murders to the Folly affairs, but the amount of time spent on them instead on focusing on the main case or the characters is sorta irrelevant. Like book 1 and 2 did perfect balancing, so why not the others?
Anyways, I love the Rivers Of London not only for its characters and story, but also for the good POC especially black representation. Peter, the main character, is metiss, all of the goddesses descending from Mama Thames and Mama Thames herself are black and badass as FUCK. I'm still not over Beverley coming for Peter and the end of Book 5.
On a sorta unrelated note, one character that I didn't like at first then warmed up to her but when I read her betrayal I hated her immediately : LESLEY FUCKING MAY. HOW COULD YOU. I TRUSTED YOU. PETER TRUSTED YOU. HOW.
Anyway, next on my list is We Were Liars, and seeing the recommendations I've got on it, prepare for some tears.
