State of Things, here. Do very much appreciate the idea of an extended look at one film maker, but since you seem to have plenty of engaged viewers here, maybe next time to conduct a poll to gauge interest in a particular director? In the meantime, a big yes to Fassbinder. Thanks, cheers, etc...!
Thank you! I don’t know about polling though. I think people will just have to suffer my choices…
Bergman Fest is really cool, man. I hope you keep doing it. Your caps are interesting no matter what's being covered but Bergman's films are unique enough to always be cool content to see when i come here. I really wouldn't mind if you did the same thing with other directors either.
Thank you!
I can’t see me doing exactly the same thing with another director but there have been times where I’ve watched a lot of one director’s films in succession and posted about them, like Quentin Tarantino, Todd Solondz, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and I can see that happening again. And there was that Gerwig Fest when I had a crush on Greta at the end of last year…
Art house cinemas always have seasonal festivals that last a month or sometimes even longer - I've seen some festival/seasons last up to 3 months so I see no problem with it at all.
This is true! And of course there all those FuckYeah____ tumblrs out there who focus on one director, star, or artist all the time and they’re great, so yeah seventeen days is nothing! I don’t know what I’m worrying about!
Thank you to all of you who sent me anon messages about the Bergman Fest! Everyone was very positive about it and actually made such nice complimentary comments that I feel quite embarrassed!
I don’t really know why I felt the need to ask about it, or why I’m second guessing myself. It’s always been positively received. I think it’s just that I’ve been doing it every year since 2011 and worried it was a bit repetitive for long time followers and for newer followers a sudden “log jam” of Bergman in what I try to make a diverse film blog. Anyway...
One of the Anon messages probably summed it up:
“There is no such thing as too much Bergman.”
(I don’t usually do this sort of thing but...) Message me on Anon and tell me: Is it a good idea to do something like the Bergman Fest? Is seventeen days of one director too much? Is it too much Bergman, and/or for too long? And of course ask or say anything else you want to.
I’ll be out at work all day but will answer the messages (if any) when I get home later.
