Day 2 for @joannehawker #meetthemakerweek is range/collection/make. I make functional pottery and items you can use for everyday occasions as well as special events. I branched out from mugs and bowls to oil dipping dishes, grater dishes, marinating bowls, sponge holders, plates, butter dishes, and I always love the request of a custom order. I’ve had a handful of people reach out to me regarding a broken cup and wanting a replacement but not a replica of it. Or a mug with a logo or image. Or a photo for inspiration for a piece someone wants me to make, it makes my day. I absolutely love the beginning to end process of working with clay, even if sometimes I wish I could have a quicker turn around for a piece. It is worth the time it takes: wedging clay, throwing, setting up, trimming, drying, bisque, sand/rinse, glaze, and final sand.
