Canon Songs and Canon Cooldowns are one in the same for me. While deeply irritating while still on Midgard, the music of the Mechanisms became very comforting to me.
I had and still have issues with flashbacks and panic attacks and simply being overwhelmed to the point of a meltdown, and though these instances no longer leave reality warping around me in rainbow hues, they still get very bad and are extremely upsetting. But music helps.
I memorize songs *very* easily, and both in my canon and now I can use that to help ground me to the here and now and calm my nervous system. The Mechanisms are often my choice of music to self soothe, though they are not the only band who's music calms me, just the one I have the most personal connection to for obvious reasons.
I'm particularly fond of Once Upon A Time (In Space) and The Bifrost Incident, though Hellfire from High Noon Over Camelot might be tied for my favorite song by them. I miss them a lot, but it's nice that I can still hear them sing the stories we loved to tell.
Sorry for getting wordy (again), I have a tendency to ramble ^^
