Good morning.

Trying to decide what to do with today/tonight. By nature, I’m a stay-cozy gal. My old favorite NYE tradition is watching “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” at home with pets, non-alcoholic champagne, and pizza. I’m a dork. I know. Maybe I will venture out…

Because the end of 2017 marks the end of an unusual time in my life, this evening is different. I no longer feel as though I’m holding my breath waiting for something to happen. I’ve learned a valuable lesson this year. For me, love is king, love is transformative, love is many things, but the most amazing thing I can say about love is that when it is real, it empowers you not just to hold on, but also to let go. Tonight I say goodbye with no regrets, knowing everything is as it should be✨

This morning I made the decision that one of my 2018 challenges will be… gulp… an Ultra Beast, which I’ve always said I wouldn’t do. For me, this feels very scary because there’s no stopping once you start & no pit crew! After my DNF at WTM, I am thinking this will help with 2018 WTM (yep, doing that) I’m too stubborn to leave it alone😂

Now, I must decide WHICH Ultra Beast! If anyone cares to weigh in on this, I’m wide open. I’m not looking to conquer Killington on my first UB. I would like reasonable terrain and weather🙏🏼 Please share any and all opinions❤

Console Fighting Games of 1980/89 - Big Challenge! Jūdō Senshuken

Big Challenge! Jūdō Senshuken is a judo-focused fighting sports game developed and published by Jaleco Ltd., released exclusively in Japan for the Famicom (NES) on August 10, 1988. It marked the first entry in Jaleco’s Big Challenge! series, which spotlighted different niche or competitive athletic themes across multiple Famicom titles.

This game brings judo into the 8-bit arena, with its own unique rule set diverging from standard IJF regulations. Matches are timed at 2 minutes and are decided by a point system:

Yuko (1 point) Waza-ari (2 points, 5-second pin) Ippon (3 points, 10-second pin – automatic victory)

Players can train in a dojo practice mode to build up stamina, a crucial stat that influences match performance. However, once a player enters Tournament Mode, they’re locked into the bracket and must face off in back-to-back matches—starting with a domestic Japanese tournament, followed by a World Championship.

Gameplay uses a side view with 2D scrolling, and while combat is rooted in traditional judo throws and pins, the interface offers direct control, focusing on positioning, timing, and managing stamina to overpower opponents.

Big Challenge! Jūdō Senshuken remains relatively obscure outside Japan, with no official localization. Despite that, it’s a notable early attempt to represent grappling sports on a home console and adds depth with its blend of strategy, stat management, and arcade-style fighting.
