heh. big hole.

Big Hole, ah Big Hole. It’s not as much of a euphemism as it sounds like it is, it is quite literal as it is a giant hole I’ve been digging in MineCraft for at least 5 years

So here’s the rough stats:

It’s 89 blocks deep, and all underground.

I sectioned off parts of it as including volume and excluding volume. There’s two areas that equate to about 15k blocks cubed that don’t fit the volume, and three cubes (with one triangular prism) that are roughly 319k blocks squared, not excluding the cubes that don’t fit the volume yet. These were very rough partitions, and I do know enough calculus to give a better number, but this is rough enough to clarify the scale of this hole. Actually I didn’t even have to give these numbers but I thought I’d share them. Buy a TI-84, it’ll be used for astronomy and calculus. No, I use it for Genshin and hole, nobody prepared me for this

This hole is roughly 304k blocks cubed. It has an average of 3,412 blocks on each level. I have dug out 304,000 blocks by causally coming through and just mindlessly mining.

That is, without including the other sections. I have not only been digging this hole, but while the desert surface looks relatively untouched it has actually been replaced by sandstone. This is caused by me digging out the sand from the desert for use while covering the top of it with a sandstone lid because I didn’t want to use glass and ruin the view from the top of the mountain.

Along with this there’s a ridiculous amount of additional large pockets into the sides of the hole, almost every one having its own use. There’s an entire section dedicated to layers of wheat fields.

Underneath all of this is a massive cave, something I’ve been slowly working on encircling so I can continue digging this hole. I started digging this hole before the Caves & Cliffs update, back when y=0 was the bottom of the world. I have surpassed y=0. Now I am aiming for bedrock.

Others are out here making castles, making redstone farms, competing the game, and I’m sitting here digging a hole. It’s a lovely hole, a wonderful hole, and it’s a Big Hole. (Confident)
