Well… surely you don’t think he’ll let you off the hook easily, do you? This is juicy, whatever it is. And someone like him knows how to use secrets to his advantage. That is to say, you’ve just become his number one favorite blackmail subject. He’s only too happy to have something to exploit you with, mainly because it certainly allows him to spend a little more time with you. The fact that you’re probably terrified of him now is beside the point.
He’ll have you doing all manner of things for him. Coursework? Yes, especially if you’re good at a particular subject. Carrying books and whatever else he needs carried? Most definitely. Pouring him (and Edgar) tea, opening doors for him, following along behind him to show how popular and important he is ― anything and everything he can get you to do. All he needs to say is, “Remember your little secret, darling? We wouldn’t want that getting out, would we?” and he expects that you’ll jump to his demands.
Occasionally he’ll make references to whatever the secret has to do with, in front of his friends. He makes sure not to skirt it too close to you, but he’s likely much bolder with it than you might like. While he thinks it’s funny, you might be afraid that your friends or his friends will catch on if he mentions the same thing too many times. He’s smart, though, and he knows how to be careful. Just enough to make you feel embarrassed, and not a bit more.
He might eventually go soft, if he starts to develop deeper feelings for you. It hits him sometimes, that this isn’t what a person should do if they really care about someone else. By that point, however, he’s convinced that your secret is the only thing that binds you to him. Surely you don’t care about him at all, you’re just going along with whatever he wants so he won’t expose your secret. There’s no way you could genuinely like him. Of course, that’s bad in itself, because then the possibility of him ever letting go of this blackmail grows less and less.
