Chapter 23: Christmas Miracle

“Stand there!” Maki held me firmly in front of the fountain with pretty lights. She took a few steps backward and said, “On the count of three you smile, okay?”

I tidied myself up a little and fixed my hair. I looked into the camera while holding my handbag in front and tilted my head in a pose.

“One.”

“Two.”

“Three.”

Maki looked at the picture and smiled. I tried to go up to her to check how I looked in the picture but she softly pushed me back and said, “Last one and we’ll take a picture together.”

I leaned my elbows in the barrier of the fountain. I wanted to try and look sexy so I could tease Maki. She shook her head and gave me a cheeky smile.

“One.”

“Two.”

“I love you, Y/N.”

With that, she made me smile in an instant. I don’t think I was even looking at the camera when she clicked the button. I ran up to her and smacked her arms, but my cheeks were undeniably a crimson color. She showed the picture and told me, “See? You look the most beautiful when you look at me.”  I smiled seeing the picture she just took. My eyes were filled with admiration for Maki. The way my eyes sparkled when said she loves me. The way she can easily make me smile, and a blushing mess. The way my heart hurts but in a comfortable way. Too much emotion can be the cause of my death, but my “too much” love for Maki is what will save me. I wanted to post that picture, so I asked her to send it to me. Maki even edited it to perfection before sending the edited and the unedited pictures. She didn’t forget to take a picture, so she extended her long arms and took a selfie. I was hugging her in the picture while my head was on her chest. She had her other arm wrapped around my shoulder, as we gave the biggest smile for the picture. Because with her, I am at my happiest.

Sometime over the summer. A video was uploaded to Youtube. It was a twelve minute interview log taken from archived and classified Secret Police files. It was apparently found by an independant hacker looking for information about the Aether Foundation Incident. Durring their digging they found a file leading to multiple test and interview logs about something called “The Ultra Phenominon.”

The video was taken down fifteen minutes later and the channel locked down.

The first interview went as such.

[Interviewer: Detective Looker]

[Interviewie: NAME REDACTED.]

[Begin log]

Looker [L]: Alright, the recordings started. The date 28/6/17 is Could you state your name for the record?

Subject [S]: I would prefer not to.

[L]: Compleatly understandable, moving on. Could you state what you are?

[S]: As in before. [There is a pause and a breath]. A vulpix, alolan.

[L]: Could you state your age.

[S]: Hmm, realisticly? About three years, but I guess by human standards I’m older than that.

[L]: If I may chime in, you look about 16 or 17, for the record.

[S]: Thanks?

[L]: No problem. What pronouns do you prefer?

[S]: She/her.

[L]: What was the date when you…Transformed.

[S]: I think it was… The tenth of May.

[L]: This year?

[S]: Yep!

[L]: Alright, any familly?

[S]: My sister, a kantonian Vulpix, as well as my mom, an Alolan Ninetails.

[L]: From our intell your mother is also the former Ice Totem Pokemon.

[S]: Yes, yes she is.

[L]: Good, now, the big question. What happened on the Tenth of May.

[S]: Ok. [Another pause and more breathing is heard]. I was, a vulpix. I was playing on mount Lanakila with my sister, hide and seek. I got lost hiding and was wandering around the mountain. I heard a loud boom in the sky and saw, you called it an Ultra-Wormhole?

Well, the next thing I knew I was lying in the snow, a human, with this purple crystal around my neck. My friend, should I say his name?

[L]: He consented to putting his name on the record, so you can.

[S]: Ok, Gina, Gina found me in the snow and brought me to the Pokemon Center. My sister followed me there. Gina and his mom, Nurse Joy, took care of me and helped me gat adjusted to being a human. Eventually, you tracked me down and convinced me to talk to all these people.

[L]: That’s it then?

[S]: That’s all I know.

[L]: Alright, well, thank you for your time. Well review this, and if you can stay for a few more tests and such it would be a great help to understand what happened. Tape end.

The contents of the recording were widely denounced by the Secret Police and Aether Foundation. However, most theorists and trainers had their doubts, and were still curious and looking for this, S.
