saw a post on tumblr about an au where johnny is a single dad before the tournament in mk1, and i was thinking; what would it be like if he actually **was** a single dad?

like, how would it have changed things, how would his relationship with kenshi differ? ofc it could be another cassie, or it could be someone completely new that he had with cristina?

just wondering about your thoughts on single dad!johnny because, let's be real, he's a girldad through and through

i do fear he would have a different kid with cris, but im also not alive enough to make him and cris a whole new child so he just gets an ambiguous His Daughter for now, sorry 💀

i think johnny being a single dad would change him a lot-- and honestly i almost think that the reason that he and cris get divorced would maybe be more of an amicable thing, like they just don't get along as well or they aren't happy being together and so they both decide it'd be better for them and for their daughter for them to separate-- i think johnny, with a kid, would spend mostly within his means, but i do think cris still pokes fun at him for buying sento bc "why the hell do you need a 3 million sword you'll never use??"

i think him and cris remain somewhat friends, if not at least friendly so that their daughter can have shared time with both of them but i do think cris let's johnny keep her full time/most of the time just bc he has a higher income/more free time..

i think johnny's relationship to kenshi doesnt really change, but i think the reasons they have that rivalry in the beginning kind of change-- kenshi just wants his sword but johnny is pissed off bc one, he does want to keep sento bc that's 3 mil right there baby, and two, kenshi probably broke into the house while johnny's daughter was upstairs-- like in johnny's mind kenshi endangered his child and he's still mad about that bc clearly kenshi did his research on johnny before showing up, so surely he knew he had a kid and shouldve planned to rob him when they were gone or smth 💀

but i think as time goes on, they settle into each other, and eventually once they're all back in earthrealm and more in their normal lives, i think johnny would tell his daughter like, "hey, i think im gonna start dating again," just as a heads up to let her know that there might be nights where he's gone, or even if he's gone for a night, that she can always call and he'll come running, etc etc

im imagining that his daughter is a teenager maybe at this point, especially if johnny is pushing forty or his mid forties, so like fifteen sixteen, and she's like "yeah whatever dad, go have fun," and johnny is okay leaving her at home and what not because he knows that she can take care of herself when he's gone

but johnny eventually having to tell his daughter about kenshi, EVEN FUNNIER if she REMEMBERS HIM from the night he broke in, and she gives him the stank eye and is like "you're not good enough for my dad" so it turns into johnny being like "oh cmon, he's not that bad--" and kenshi looking down at her and going "if i have to prove myself, so be it."

but girl dad johnny so quiet about his life back home, and the first time kenshi hears about it is after he's blinded.. kenshi who has no idea what johnny's daughter looks like, the first he's hearing of her at all is after him and johnny have such a terrifying, horrific moment together... no news outlet or anything knowing either, like johnny who kept cris and his daughter mostly a secret to keep them out of the public eye bc they didnt want to be in it... kenshi surprised when johnny tells him that he has a kid, and then even more surprised when he meets her and she's basically johnny's mini me with her mom's attitude 😭
