Rhaegar Targaryen, The Last Dragon

"There was a melancholy to Prince Rhaegar, a sense ... of doom. He was born in grief, my queen, and that shadow hung over him all his days."

For all the grief I give Rhaegar, the backstory of being a bookish nerd until someday he reads something in his tomes of ancient knowledge and suddenly decides he has to be warrior, then studies arms training with the same diligence til he's one of the best knights in the land... there's something old school Romantic about that. Plus it taps into a deep nerdy belief in self-improvement that usually only Batman can reach.

The overwhelming sense I get from Rhaegar is that wherever he went, he had pretty anime bishie sparkles and doves were constantly taking wing just behind him... and this miniature certainly captures that vibe! This is my first from a new line of miniatures from bigchild creatives, they've done a line of King Arthur miniatures that are just gorgeous, and give super strong ASOIAF vibes. I wanted to up my painting game accordingly, so you can see I've tried slightly more advanced highlighting on Rhaegar's armour, and I'm really happy with how its come out! Also managed to get his ruby dragon breastplate in there.
