“A-and the-en, he ran straight into the cling film, BANG, and he fell straight on the flo-o-or” Tom was giggling uncontrollably, rolling about on the sofa in the back of the restaurant. You were sharing hilarious stories about your siblings and their antics. The both of you were pretty drunk by this point, and had descended into hysteric laughing. “I did the same thing with the toilet seat! But I accidentally got my dad instead of my brother! He was so mad, I had to ride on the back of my cousins bike, while my brother got to ride mine!” You were snorting with laughter, and tom had slumped so far off the sofa, that his shirt had been pushed up his back, exposing his skin, which was rippled from his muscles, and dotted with little freckles and moles. You imagined tracing your fingers over those freckles, joining them up, drawing a picture. You wondered what his skin would feel like. Would it be warm to the touch? comforting and soft, or would it be cool and rough? like the dry and scarred skin on your father. His body seemed so clean, so untainted by the horrors of your lifestyle. Unlike all the other boys you’d been with. Their skin was always old and broken, But Tom’s seemed so pure and innocent. Like the dark side of this world had never caressed it. You questioned if your touch would spoil the perfectness of this boy. Darken him. Exposure to your life had always destroyed the souls of innocent boys.
You’d been subtly trying to give him hints all evening. Gentle arm squeezes, lip bites, crossing and uncrossing your legs. He didn’t seem to take note of any of it. “I really should go, I have to work tomorrow.” Tom gave a half smile, and stood up, though he almost toppled over from how drunk he was. “No! Don’t go! We were having a nice time..” you tried to flirt with him. Judging by his breathy chuckle, it wasn’t working. “Sorry, love. It’s been great but I have to leave” he took a step in between you and the coffee table. You grabbed his hand to stop him from moving any further. He turned his head to look at you. “Raven, I- woahhh” he gasped as you slid your heeled shoe up his left leg and rested it on his crotch. “You don’t have to do anything, sunshine” you raised an eyebrow at him. He stared at your shoe for a second, before he gingerly traced his fingers along your leg. “Raven, I’m not entirely sure what you’re suggesting, but if you-“ “you know exactly what I’m suggesting” you interrupted. “Love, I just met you...” He croaked, But his fingers still danced on your skin. “You’re so sexy, Tommy baby” you slurred, pressing into your shoe and twisting it about a little. “Ok, you’re drunk.” He chuckled. “So are youuu” you sang and licked your lips and put more pressure on your foot. “Yes. Too drunk. Come on, I’ll get you back to your room.”
“Where’s your key?” Tom whispered, walking through the hotel lobby. “Umm...in my bra” you slurred back at him, the two of you had somehow stumbled as far as the elevator. “Well get it out, we need it for the lift” he chuckled. “get what out?” You asked in a sultry tone and winked at him. “For fucks sake Raven, stop trying to seduce me and get the bloody key!” He giggled. “You think I’m tryna seduce you, tommy baby?” You slowly pulled the card from your bra and tom blushed red. “Y-yes..I think you are” he stuttered, eyes trained on you slowly inserting the card into the reader. “Is it working?” You asked watching the doors open. “Y-y-yes. But...but Er, we cant. We’re too drunk.” He scratched his ear and gulped. “You’re such a good boy, Tommy....let me be bad for you?” The elevator door shut and you moved closer to him. He gave a sympathetic smile. “Maybe tomorrow, eh?” You could tell he was covering up pain. “I’ll be gone tomorrow, Tommy baby. You won’t see me again” the doors opened again and you stumbled out, tom following. He was definitely moving into the ‘sad and depressed and I’m going to tell you all my secrets’ stage of drunk. “N-no.....no, Raven. You can’t go...you...you can’t.”
“Why not? That’s what I do. Buy a coffee. Stay a night. Fuck a stranger or two if I fancy it. Leave by sunrise.” You chuckled slightly, reflecting on how shitty your life can be sometimes. “But...But, Raven...I-I-I...like...you” another first. You never really talked to people before you shagged them. There was one girl who’s name you’d forgotten before you made it to her room. You stood, staring at tom, not sure how to respond to what he said. “Come with me” once again the words just fell out, before you could second guess them. His brow furrowed and he shook his head at you. “Tomorrow. We’re only going to Mersea island for the weekend. Camping. Then we’re circling back to here. Come with us” you started to sound desperate as the fairy story built up in your head. “You think your dad would approve of me?” He joked. You walked towards him and grabbed his hand. “He’d approve if it made me happy” you stared longingly into his eyes. He flashed a bashful smile. “Could I make you happy, Raven?”
You nodded, smiled back and pulled him towards your room. “This is insane. I met you five hours ago!” He giggled, taking the key from you and unlocking the door. “You wanna watch a movie? Or you could keep telling me about your brothers...I know you got bored talking about mine at dinner.” You tripped over a shoe, walking to your bed. “I didn’t get bored, Raven. I want to learn about you. I want to know everything about you.....not in a creepy way. In a.....like.. you know, not a creepy way.” You both just stared at each other for a second, then burst out laughing. “God, we’re so drunk. I’m gonna start crying about hair straighteners soon” you collapsed on the bed, and tom laid down next to you. “what?” He chuckled. “I used to have these amazing hair straighteners.....like, they were so good! They’d get hot in twenty seconds they were incredible” you started to ramble. “Right?” Tom questioned. “And they just stopped working one day. I plugged them in and they wouldn’t get hot and it sucked because they were amazing and they always made my hair so shiny...a-and..now I have to borrow Brandies. Hers are ok but they’re not as good as the ones that I had and it sucks” “o-ok” he chuckled. “It’s not funny! They were really good straighteners!” You argued. Tom shook his head with a smile on his face.
“So...have...have you ever...um...killed...um...someone?” He asked, stumbling back to the bed after using the bathroom. “Not personally. But I’ve seen people be killed. I’ve ordered my father to kill people. But I’ve never fired a gun at anything bigger than a pigeon” You turned over so you were lying on your front, your chin resting on your arms. “But, one day I will take over this business, and I’ll probably have to kill a few murderous bastards.” Tom laughed a little, but covered his mouth quickly. “What?” You asked, poking him. “Well, aren’t you guys murderous bastards too?” He pointed out. “But we only kill bad people....and really annoying pigeons”
You spent the whole night with tom. Sprawled on the bed, laughing and crying together, slowly sobering up. The sun started to come up around four AM, and you were blissfully lying next to tom, staring at every little detail in his face, memorising it. “Raven?” He whispered, bringing his hand onto your stomach and rubbing it slowly. “Yeah” you reply, fighting to keep your eyes open. “I wanna come with you”
“Raven......Raven......Raven....” Her dark wavy tresses rolled down her back as she danced around the wheat field, in a flowy white dress. “Raven...come and walk with me” you reached out your small soft hand to grab on to your mummy’s fingers, but her hand kept moving away. “Raven....My Raven” you skipped forward to get closer to her hand, but everytime you got close , mummy moved again. And again and again, until she was so far away, she looked like a little bug. “Mummy! Come back!” You ran after her, your little legs no match for a grown up. “Oof.” You huffed as you fell on the ground. Pain swirled around your knee and you turned to look at it, your eyes welling up. It was covered in blood. Your bottom lip poked out and you started to whimper. “M-m-mummy” You wailed, waiting for her to come running to you. Nothing happened. “MUMMY!!” You screamed this time, hoping she could hear you. SCREECH. CRASH. BANG. suddenly the wheat field fell away from under you, and you were sat alone in a dark room. THUD. THUD. THUD. You knew that sound. It was your daddy. It was his big black boots. A small light was switched on, and you saw your daddy walking towards you, with sleepy E-O over his shoulder. Daddy Didn’t say anything. He looked at the floor. His face was all grey, but his hands were red. He lifted you up and rested your head on his other shoulder. “Daddy.” You whispered, falling asleep. SCREECH. CRASH. BANG. SCREECH. CRASH. BANG. mummy’s head flung back to her shoulders when the blood went everywhere. That’s when daddy screamed. SCREECH. CRASH. BANG.
you jolted awake, sweating and crying at the memory of your mothers death. It took you a minute to register your surroundings, when you realised you were in your hotel room. Then you noticed something else. An arm over your legs. A warm body attached to it. Tom. He stirred and groaned a little as his eyes blinked open. “You alright?” He murmured, softly rubbing your back. “N-No...” You squeaked, your voice shaky and hoarse as the tears flowed like a river. He sat up and looked at you, his face dropping. “Oh my god Raven, what’s wrong?” He panicked, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you onto his lap. “What happened? Are you hurt, darling?” He brushed the hair out of your face, and scanned your body for injuries. Darling. You could get used to that. “N-no, no. I’m fine. It was just a nightmare. Sorry, I should have let you go back to sleep” you whispered, sniffing and wiping your face. “No, beautiful. Don’t apologise to me. Nightmares are awful. I’m here for you, love” he held you tighter and rocked back and forth.
This man was thawing out your heart like a damn microwave. You had never let anybody care for you in this way. Every hug from your father had been rejected since you were ten. Every hand hold from Brandie you shook off. You learned to communicate in wolf whistles and ‘did you cum?’s. Never a cuddle or even a kiss after the deed was done. But right here, with this man, you felt comfortable enough to open up to him. You let him hold you, and comfort you. You trusted him. Knew that he wouldn’t hurt you. You’d never truly trusted someone before. “Do you want to talk about it?” He whispered in your ear, still rocking you and rubbing his thumb along your side. “N-n-not really....” You stuttered, pushing your face in to his chest. “Ok, darling. Would you like to lay back down and try to sleep?” He fluttered his lips against your forehead, but then hesitated and pulled away, remembering that he had been awoken from his dream, and in reality you weren’t his to cradle and reassure. But you wished he had kissed you. Even just a little peck would have stalled your crying and made you completely whipped for him.
“Yeah....can you just...stay with me...please?” The words crept out of your mouth and tom began to lean back with you in his arms. “Yes Raven. I’m not going anywhere, I promise.” You adjusted your position slightly so your head was resting on his chest and your body between his legs. “Alright?” Tom asked while He laced his fingers in your hair and ran them through it. You nodded slowly, still whimpering a little. He reached up behind him to grab the covers and he pulled them over your shivering body. “There you go love, is that better?” He gently stroked your cheekbone while he spoke. You nodded again, your eyes getting heavy.
He waited until you were asleep, when your breathing was shallow and your pulse was slow. He pulled you up a little, so he could envelope you in his arms. He kissed your hair and inhaled your scent, imagining what it would be like to hold you forever. “I think I’m in love with you, my beautiful Raven”
