Every time me and my husband argue it always ends up being a mixture of Spanish and Italian, half the time we stop mid argument and go “wait wtf did you say???” 😭😭😭

For anyone planning on writing a Spanish-speaking character

In Spanish, “you” and all its forms (yours, your, etc) are translated into two main words: “tu” and all it’s forms (tuyo, te, etc) and “su” and all it’s forms (su, suyo, le, etc).

You use either word depending on who you’re talking to. When you use “su,” it’s normally because you’re talking to someone who’s older than you. This is how you talk to your mom, teacher, grandma, etc.

When you use “tu,” it’s less formal. You’re probably talking to friends, cousins, siblings, etc.

So please, when you’re love interest talks in Spanish to the other love interest, don’t let them say “su.”

It ruins the mood man.

It's weird being American if English is not your first language but you don't have an accent because everyone assumes you only speak English. Which like yeah I guess is a fair generalization except it's also super annoying when you hear someone saying something wrong in your language and you're like "hey nbd but it's pronounced _____" and they come back with "um, actually I taught myself Italian for three years so I think I know what I'm saying" and it's just like. Biiitttcchhh I'm first generation American miss me with that petty shit

whenever I see the word “pain” in English my brain automatically translates it to bread because “pain” is the french word for bread...

So I forgot how to count.

I was studying Chinese and I couldn’t remember how to count to five in Chinese or in English. Or in German, which I've actually studied recently. I could only remember how to count in French.

I haven’t studied French in years.

And I just realized that now, two days later, I am still counting in French and may need to remember how to say one, two, three, four, freaking five.

This is my life now.
