I think it’s interesting how Billy was introduced shortly after Steve’s redemption arc. Wasn’t Steve supposed to be the stereotypical asshole bad guy? What if they changed some of his scenes and gave them to Billy?

tlou takes place after the whole zombie-but-not-really-zombie apocalypse has been happening for 20 years, and that alone says a lot about it. there's no clean start or finish to it. there's no miraculous cure or benevolent military interference to clean up the mess. there are no clean breaks or black-and-white decisions.

it focuses on joel, a smuggler i think in his 50's now who starts out kind of apprehensive and cynical and tired of everything, and ellie, who is perfect and very much not-perfect but that makes her even MORE perfect. i love ellie so much. ellie is fourteen and swears like a sailor and has never seen nature and likes bad puns. ellie. ellie.

Spoilery Plot Things happen, but basically, joel has to transport ellie from one place to another and they both have emotional issues and they don't solve those in the end. the point is kind of that they don't. that they can't. i can't describe this game without spoiling stuff and going on for 5000 words which i will very easily do if i keep talking but it's good and i think you'd like it and you can cry to me about it. i watched a lp of it in one sitting and i want to do it again and it is the game that is systematically destroying my heart.
