Hi, do you have any idea about how it works with alters that have execssive knowledge about something the host dosent? Like if theres an alter that can only speak italian or one that is a doctor or anything that seems impossible for the mind to fabricate? I hope you feel better soon, your blog has been very helpful, I'm usually on anon but all the answers I've gotten have been very reassuring ❤

So alters can have knowledge that the rest don’t have if they had time to front and learn while others weren’t around. For example, an alter could know Italian if it was taught to them as a child, and other alters might not know it because they don’t have access to those memories. I have a college degree, but not all of my alters were around for that so (for example) my young alters don’t know that information. Some other abilities like drawing or physical abilities can also vary by alter!

An alter being a doctor would be a different thing, because that’s a career that requires a good 8 years of schooling. So in theory an alter could front for that schooling period and stop being the host after, with another alter without those memories taking over. 

So the short answer is, abilities are dependent on memories and not all alters have the same memories (and therefore, may not share abilities)!

I have OSDD1 and theres recently formed alter (previously a fragment) that can fully front. I can somewhat hold him back but its getting worse and I dont know what to do, he hurts my boyfriend whom cant fight back partly cuz he gets overpowered and he dosent wanna hurt the body. Any advice on what to do? Is there any way he can restrain him or is there something I can do?

I don’t feel comfortable giving you much advice on this because this alter is posing a risk both to the body and to someone else. If anyone is getting hurt here you need professional help. That’s it, that’s not really optional, this alter could severely hurt you or another person. 

You can see a hospital if things get bad enough, you could look into finding a therapist, you can see if your state has any crisis walk-in centers or other resources like that. I’d highly highly recommend you seek professional help before this gets worse. 

Isolating yourself when you feel him about to front is a good choice. Having your boyfriend physically restrain the body is a bad idea. I don’t have any advice on how to make sure that only you front... you need to seek professional help. I’m sorry that I don’t have more to tell you.
