Current State affairs and yoga, of course!
So, I'm gonna try to start posting here again and not being so lazy about blogging like I always am. I won't be doing food logs anymore because I find them boring, but I will try to talk about all the videos I use for my yoga practice, because right now I have sooo many, and sometimes I forget if I liked an specific one or not. Plus, it can always help people that are looking for new yoga videos.
As to diet, I have no idea how I'm doing with regards to weight right now, because I used to weight myself on a balance near to my college, and since vacation started I haven't been able to weight myself. I need to find a free balance closer to home. But I think I might have gained a little with all the holiday eating. Plus I've been really bad about tracking my food, and we got so much chocolate for Christmas it's not even funny. And I'm really bad at not pigging out on chocolate. But after the new year, things will hopefully get back on track.
So let's get to the yoga video reviews! Yesterday I did: A level 2 Vinyasa Flow, by Kayla, Core Strength Advanced by Sadie Nardini and Sun Salutes with Binding Twists with David Procyshyn of DoYogaWithMe.com. Here are the videos and my thoughts on them:
This quick flow is great for when you need a quick warm-up, or even a whole nobody workout if you don't mind repeating it a few times. I like the way Kayla teaches (even though she's not a professional), but sometimes I wish she would give more breath and muscle cues. Still, a pretty good flow, especially if you have already figured out flow breathing.
Sadie Nardini is a pretty reliable teacher, and even though I wish she had more variety in her poses, when you do one of her sequences you can be sure you will be sweating by the end. This one was good, but maybe a little to much for me. I'm not even sore in my core today, which makes me think that I could fully get in the poses and didn't get the full benefits from this sequence. Sometimes, simpler is better.
Another good sequence by David, with some awesome twists, and a moderate pace, especially by the end. The only "downside" to this one is the amount of shoulder stretching. Now, not that shoulder stretching isn't important, but I'm awful at doing them properly, i.e. keeping them away from my ears and not over-arching my back, so I tend to not like them very much. But today my shoulders were feeling fine, so maybe I'm starting to get the hang of it.
All and all, a very good yoga practice! Today I did the Level 2 Yoga/Pilates Fusion by Kim Wilson (not availabe to embed), from DoYogaWithMe.com
Now, THAT was a workout. I didn't even manage to do some of the poses, and I think I'll be pretty sore tomorrow. It's a whole body sequence, with a lot of vinyasa arms, and core work. As usual, I was miserable at the core stuff. Why does my core have to be so weak? This was a bit light on stretching but it is a great strength sequence.
What about you guys? What have you been doing for your yoga practice?
