Hej! This is my first time writing a story like this with original characters, so please bear with me! I also don't have Word on my laptop, so I'm using the notepad accessory, which, sadly, lacks a spellcheck option, so I apologize profusely if anything is misspelled.
Before we start, however, I must warn you- These are character loosely based off of real scientists. The only accurate thing about these two is their age difference, which is ten years. Can you believe that?? xD So yes, this Anton Phillips van Leeuwenhoek is a totally different person than the actual man who discovered the little beasties in the water! Rober Hooke is in no way shape or form anywhere close to being similar to the actual man.
And after a bit more research on my part shows that... they wrote letters to eachother about cells. OK BACK TO MY STORY.

"I
Absolutely don't get this!!"
My head spun and I jsut felt sick. I can't believe I had let my friend force me to sign up for this class.
And then he leaves me during the first week for some tech class with his boyfriend or something.
I could have also transferred to a different class but I had...
Maybe...
Possibly
contracted feelings for the young, curly-haired bio teacher?
And this attraction must've been really strong, because I am definitely not a science person.
Not at all. I was horribly failing the class.
But this man had me mesmorized. Every movement of his arm writing on the board, or his thin frame plopping into the chair at his desk...
But sometimes even he couldn't keep my attention, and my mind drifted to the point of falling asleep.
This was generally seen as a bad idea to most of the class, because the teacher had a slight tendency to get violent and because I also happened to sit in the front
row.
Today was one of those days. It was a nice little nap while it lasted. The room was quite warm and my arms made a comfortable pillow.
"Robert." I could even almost hear his voice calling my name...
"Robert!" But... why did it sound so angry?
"ROBERT HOOKE, WAKE UP." My rather large bio book that I had previously had my arms propped up on was suddenly wrenched out from under me and
smacked against my head.
I cursed loudly and peered up at him with a wounded look on my face through my arms. The look he was sending me...
I was honestly not sure what kind of expression that was.
"See me after school." He almost purred.
I wasn't sure if my face turned a deathly shade of pale or bright red. Judging from the pleased look on his face, it was one or the other.
In all honesty, I wasn't sure if this was an improvement to my day or what. I had already gotten a detention in my algebra 2 class for not paying attention, and I was
also expected after school by the art teacher to help clean up a mess that I hadn't made.
It was the last period of the day thankfully, and I was just planning on hanging back for a few minutes to apologize for falling asleep and to see if I could possibly drop the class before midterm exams.
Because I had a snowballs chance in hell of passing the AP Bio midterm.
I spent the last ten minutes of class copying down my neightbors notes. Besides the fact that her writing was barely legible, even by my standards, I didn't understand the words.
or the drawings.
Wait.
Was that man shirtless?
I sighed and handed the notebook back to the girl with a short thanks. She just nodded and continued to stare with her arms crossed at the wall at the front of the classroom.
The bell rang shrilly for a second and I hoped to god that this wouldn't take too long. While everyone left, I sat slouched in my seat.
After a few minutes of watching Mr. Leeuwenhoek grading papers, I straightened in my seat.
"Um-" I started. He stood up suddenly, his chair slamming into the wall behind him. I jumped in my seat, startled at the sudden movement.
"Stay in you chair, I'll be right back, then we'll talk." He left the room, taking long strides.
I sighed and slouched back into the chair. I just wanted to get out of here.
