Chat, which 17th century scientist, if alive today, do we think would be the best programmer?
The obvious answer is Leibniz because of his work with the calculating machine which was the first proto-computer, and I think he did some stuff with binary as well (I think it might be because of him that we have computers at all). However, I think Robert Hooke could also be a candidate because he tried to re-create Leibniz' calculating machine after hearing about it.
