their lives are the STUFF OF NIGHTMARES. decades of fighting the same war on different fronts, and chris sometimes makes the mistake of believing he can’t be surprised anymore. no . . . surprised isn’t the right word for it. there’s no surprise anymore when he’s been long conditioned to expect the worst. this feeling is that of revulsion and anger because the worst is still somehow worse. the nightmares exceed even his worst imagination, and he still can’t be numb to it.
at the very least, no matter how terrible, all the monsters chris fights have a simple, unequivocal solution. ❝ just shoot until it stops moving ! ❞
