hello i am confused about how to register for BIOL 140? so this course will run through term 1 AND term 2? how do i register? like which section there are so many

It’s a single term course. You have to first register for the “main” section, for the term you want to take it in (either section 101 or 201), and then you pick a lab time in the same term that fits your schedule. The “main” section acts as a master list for administrative purposes. 

The description for BIOL 140 explains this too, you should read any notes you see on the course registration pages.

Should BIOL 121 and BIOL 140 be taken together?

Eh, it doesn’t really matter, they don’t really overlap.

Do you have to take both a lecture and a lab for BIOL 140 because I'm trying to make my worklist right now and I only see lab classes listed but no lecture?

There’s no lecture section, but you have to register for that big “lecture” on the SSC, so they can have a master list of all the students for the term.

Do I have to take all of BIOL 112, 121 and 140 during my first year to get into the Biology major? Are they prerequisites for the future courses I'll need to take?

You can do either 112 or 121, with 140 but I HIGHLY recommend you just take all 3 to get them over with, it makes course selection easier when you’re in Biology. 112 isn’t a pre-req for any of the upper level Biology courses, at least I don’t remember, but if you wanted to do some MICB, you will need it.

I heard BIOL 140 is quite difficult. Was it hard for you to take BIOL 140 with another bio course in the same term?

No, I think I did better the term I was taking BIOL 140 and 121, but that might be because I like Biology.

To anon, sorry, the BIOL 140 lab manual is not re-usable because there are things you need to hand in from the manual.

Sorry, to add on, even if you buy the BIOL 140 lab manual re-used, it will be hard to erase all the writing in it… it would be best to buy it new.

Hello, Do you know if the BIOL 140 lab manual is reusable? I've been told that the chemistry is not. Thank you

I’m not too sure, I think there were some handouts you need to write on from them, but it’s been awhile since I’ve taken that course.

Is BIOL 140 a pre-req for any courses? Also, I'm planning to go into Integrated Sciences for Psychology and CAPS (integrating courses from those 2 disciplines). In this case, would I still need to take it even though its a req. for the individual majors of Psyc and CAPS? I'm not sure if that made sense lol

It is for some BIOL courses, I’m not sure about PSYC and CAPS. You can always take a look for yourself on the course website.
