I'm reading this great, conservation-ecology book and really enjoying it, but the author keeps using antler/horn and monkey/ape interchangeably and I flinch internally every time.

But listen I fucking hate The Descent and to this day quote it as my least favorite movie I’ve ever had to endure

And it’s not for the cast but for the same reason I have beef with PacR*m (get off my post): the willful disregard of how biology works to an extent where my suspension of disbelief cannot function. I couldn’t be afraid of the mole people because I was so busy being furious that they tried to explain it biologically but these cave-dwelling creatures apparently have no sense of smell or tactile response despite being blind. That’s right up there with PacRim’s ‘dinosaurs have two brains’ line that haunts me to this day
