Bionic Eyes With Thermal Infrared Vision In Development

The latest bionic eyes are implanted directly onto a patient's brain, which sends video images to the visual cortex through electrical impulses.

A team of researchers has, for the first time, fully 3D printed an array of light receptors on a hemispherical surface. This discovery marks a significant step toward creating a 'bionic eye' that could someday help blind people see or sighted people see better.

Very cool!  Hopefully they can make them a bit less odd-looking eventually.  But hey...I’m game, my left eye could certainly use and upgrade at this point.  :)

This month I’ve been quite busy again and gotten behind on catching up with my tumblr peeps. But for the past year and a half I’ve also been trying to keep posting at least one picture a month, and March is almost over. This month I have accumulated a bunch of late night sketches and painted pictures, but they are very unpolished, not to mention mostly not very safe for work. 

Instead, I decided to upload something I drew in December but didn’t post online - another character from the ballpoint and paper series. 

She’s a sassy middle-aged woman with a Finnish name who works in the telecommunications department. Tele- stands for “telepathic”.
