Reminder!
Lazy eye does not on its own mean drifting
Lazy is Amblyopia whereas drifting/wandering are all under Strabismus which is misalignment 🐶
While Amblyopia is often accompanied, if not caused by misalignment, it's not a 100% guarantee
Amblyopia is when your brain does not process the image of one or both eyes, therefore making it lazy. This can be because an eye is already weak (due to any visual condition really) or because your brain perceives it to be even if it's not, as it is a neurodevelopmental disorder of vision and doesn't stem from the eye itself. There's a bunch of different types that are dependent on the cause
Strabismus is a broad category of eye misalignments including - Esotropias , Exotropias , Hypertropias , Hypotropias , and Paralytic Strabismus
My left eye is amblyopic because I have mixed astigmatic anisometropia (or astigmatic antimetropia, both are correct) which means one eye (my left) is hyperopic/farsighted, my other is myopic/nearsighted, AND both my eyes are astigmatic. These are all refractive errors which basically means (in my case) my corneas are oddly shaped (myopia and hyperopia can also be caused by the eye itself being too long or short, but for me my corneas are just outta wack)
My lazy eye does not drift! AND any type of Strabismus can occur without Amblyopia.
Lazy and drifting get used interchangeably because they often cooccur but that doesn't mean they should be used interchangeably
